I am an Iron Butt member, but I can't find my certificate - I might have left it in the UK...
I intend to join FarRiders at some point :thumbsup
-
I think my details have all my current memberships (apart from all those sites where you don't need a number etc)
-
Back in 2004 I got home sick while I was in Darwin on a trip around Oz and so headed back home to East Gippsland in Victoria. On the last day I headed off from Coober Pedy at 7:30 in the morning and arrived back home in Sarsfield (1874km) at 5:30 am the next day (22 hours). No official record though!
Mary was glad to see me - it was our anniversary! :13Candy
-
Didn't know anything about Farriders or Iron Butt until I joined this sight.
March 2007, Adelaide to Port Hedland via Kwinana (to visit sis on way)4500kms via coast 5 nights on road plus two at my sis.
December 2007 Port Hedland to Adelaide via inland route (3865kms) 3 nights on road and i was exhausted. :crazy
December 2007 Return to Port Hedland 3865kms with 5 nights on road.
April 2008 Port Hedland to Broome and Return two night on road (1214kms)
June 2008 Karratha to Adelaide 4036kms and 4 nights on road.
June 2008 Adleaide to Karratha 4036kms and 5 nights on road. Partner came back with me. (she drove car.)
September 2008 with partner from Karratha to Kwinana 1574kms and one night on road plus another 1574 and one for return trip
April 2009 on my own from Karratha to Kwinana 1574kms and one night on road plus another 1574 and and two nights for return trip.
Only one trip was rushed to get back home in time for Christmas and all trips done with trailer attached to bike and distances not unusual if you want to go anywhere in Aust.

Hey diesel,
I enjoyed your report on your "stuff up" with the times.
I have also ridden more than 1000 km in 24 hours but I was out of town, south of Coober Pedy, when I started my ride so I had filled up with fuel the day before. It was not the aim of the ride to ride all the way home but as it was going to be my anniversary I decided to keep going.
I need to get my notes and write a bit of a report about it.
-
To qualify, is it necessary to complete a specific ride sanctioned by Farriders, or can I undertake a ride and provide appropriate date-time stamped receipts etc, to authenticate the ride?
-
Not real bright am I... It's very clear on the Farriders web site.
-
Diesel and I are fan's of the 1000km in 24 hours, good fun, does not wreck you to much, and you can still see part of the world without having to rush
-
I am off to Lightning Ridge for that FarRide
-
:rofl :rofl :rofl
What's up Pete? Inspired by the fantastic trip you've just had or sumthin?
Ask away mate - plenty of FarRiders on here that can help out.
Great to see you at Blackheath.
Cheers, Diesel
-
Not a member at this point, but I am going to try at some point later in the year when the soccer season has ground to a halt and I am not needed for my son's team.
It is a shame I can't make the Lightning Ridge ride because I have always wanted to go there and it would be a good excuse.
Cheers, Shaun

Interesting comment there Streak. Lets look at it this way:
1000Km in 24 hours - 1000/24= 41.6Kph average required
SS1600K in 24 Hours - 1610/24= 67Kph average required
SS2000K in 24 hours - 2000/24 = 83.3Kph average required (personally I think this is a tough ride)
(Geeze I hope got the numbers right >:() )
Yep, I agree but I still have fun watching all sorts of parts of this great country as I ride around
StinkyPete, in case you have not found the IBA site you may like to look here http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/ (http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/) Don't need any ones approval just do the ride within the guidelines and submit your paperwork to the IBA
If it is the FarRides you want then you have already found the info you require, enjoy the FarRides there is always great company at the end or in the middle of these rides :beer
-
well the only one that i have done so far, we tried to cover 600 odd the first day, so it meant you can cruise in the next day :thumb
your check in time is normally 12.30pm in the state it is held (WORD OF WARNING! make sure you check this....)
-
You are dead right about that check in time, must admit I have nearly been caught out with that one >:()
-
I have a SS1600k ride all but planned, just need to contact a couple of servo's to see what times they open/close. No plans as to when I'm going to do it, but at least I'll be ready to go when the opportunity arises.

I certainly was inspired by the trip. I've done heaps of touring before, but the fact that I did 960km in 12.5 hours on the way home, has reassured me that joining the ledgendary FarRiders is well within my grasp. I might have a look at the Border Run or a "round about' route to Renmark.
