A question from a newbie. I believe the screen on my st1100 is the shorter version. I have noticed that it is fairly noisy when I am travelling along from the wind coming off the screen I assume and hitting the helmet. Is this the main reason for going for a higher screen? And where is the best place to buy one? :13Candy

Welcome to the age old story...
ST1100 Standard screen = Buffeting wind into helmet
You can do a number of things:
Fit a taller screen (can help, but can block out to much wind, and take a lot of the feel out of riding)
Fit a smaller screen ( opens you up to the world more, terryDJ rides his 1100 with almost no screen at all)
For an Australian supplier:

Fit a Laminar Lip,
The Laminar LIP is designed to quiet wind buffeting and reduce wind pressure while raising the wind comfort envelope, this link takes you to who sells them:
http://www.laminarlip.com/st1100.php (http://www.laminarlip.com/st1100.php) (they also sell screens as well)
The lip is what I am going to try next, i have heard favorable reports of it taking away the crappy air and smoothing the ride out, although it does not look as pretty...

I hate screens because of the buffeting. Most not if all helmets are quiet, but it is the screens that make em noisy. Stand up on the pegs of your bike and see how quiet your helmet becomes :thumb
I had a Laminar Lip and no matter what the adjustment was no different than the rest and ended up being cut right down to nothing and thats whats on my bike now

A lot of the UK riders use the MRA Vario screen on the 1100, you don't hear any complaints from them. It's the best screen I have had on mine.
They take a bit of setting up with the adjustable top, but once you get it right they are very good. There's two different hight's available I have the taller one and as I'm 6 foot tall I find it perfect. I have a short ass mate who had to change his to the lower one because he was looking straight at the joint on mine it's good that you have a choice.
Only one minor thing would make it perfect, the rain gets to my shoulders past the screen on slow runs.

Dont go slow, easy fixed....
I can keep dry until I get to the traffic lights, and then all the deflected water some how manages to land in the crotch in 2 seconds.. :|||| :||||

Alphafang where did you get your screen from and what was the aprox cost? I take it that you remove the old one and just replace with the extended version

Here's another option if you'd like to keep your OEM 1100 screen

I've seen those or similar Alan. I always imagine that those big black chunks of plastic in the middle of the screen are going to be distracting, they have got to end up in your eye line surely?

Thanks guys will follow up on some of these ideas.
