And for you 1100 owners.....
Look at what this chap did to use a magnetic tanks bag on his ST11......
I ran a my magnetic tankbag on my ST - a full plastic tank.
I ran a wide strip of steel (0.9mm thick x 60mm x 200mm) on the inside of the tank cover with duct-tape.
It worked - never had a failure with it!
Hope this helps

I've always been a bit worried about using a magnetic tank bag. It's the kind of place that I'd want to store my wallet, phone, camera and all of that stuff that is accessed regularly. However the strong magnets for the bag, combined with magnetic strips on credit cards and data cards for my camera seem like a disaster wating to happen. I asked my bank who advised not the subject cards to strong magnetic fields. I can just imagine being stuck out in the boonies with dead credit cards, no means of getting cash, buggered phone, and no photos of my trip.

I have one of those type of bags and I went to local upholster and got three straps fitted. Two at front to the metal rings on the 1100 frame, and an adjustable buckle off a kids pram to the hook at front of seat. Just unclip buckle to acess fuel filler.

I thought they had material between the Magnets and the tank to avoid the metal on metal scratching in the first place

They do, but the magnets pick up bits of stuff that can scratch paint.

For the ST1100 got me a Tank Cover off the good old Ebay for a couple of dollars and glued some washers on it. Never had the Tank bag move once, and its packed

The Honda tank bag has two straps on the front and magnets along the sides.
As it is attached to the front, near the steering head, it never touches the ground.
It can be a bit bulky when you have the main bag attached.
You have several options.
The base, which is flat then you have the option of two more bags.
Also it protects the top of the tank.
