Here's a bit of trivia for you:
A six footer on an ST1100 has these ergos:

With bar risers, they become this:

For an ST1300 the standard sit is this:

and with bar risers, you go vertical:

You can experiment with various bikes, heights, bar risers and seat heights here:

Isn't it weird what you can find on the Internet when you have a lot of time on your hands! :CB-- :grin

Interesting. I'm glad I have bar raisers.
It's a shame I couldn't change the colour though. I look better on a blue ST.

Hey did anybody notice that in the pre bar risesr diagrams he is hanging onto the bars, but in the other diagram only his fingers are touching???

I take your point, but I would argue that the angles are derived from computed measurements and the illustrations are purely that. They show the outcome, and are not the source of the measurements.

Looks like a 1300 is out for me, back would be too upright and put too much pressure on my hips (be like sitting on a kitchen chair, only more fun) and I can just imagine the jolt from a pot hole going straight up my spine. I'll stay with my 1100 with standard bars pulled back a bit.

It's not really that bad- I've got risers, as have a few others (e.g. Diesel). You don't sit bolt upright, but you can for a change. I bend my elbows a bit so I'm not vertical in the saddle, and I don't feel jolts up the spine. One thing I did notice on the ST1100 was my knees got sore after about 100 km from resting on the black plastic panels. I made kneepads out of dense foam that I stuck on there, which helped. I'm 182 cm (6'11") so I think taller guys would suffer more and shorter guys have less trouble.

I had that problem and I'm only 178 (5' 10") until I changed my seat and now I sit a little further back.
@ Biggles, Don't you mean 5'11"?

With the standard bars turned back a bit and standard seat I don't hit my knees on fairing, and have just enough pressure on wrist to be comfortable. I'm just 6' and 1100 seems to fit me fine. I cannot ride for anymore than about two hours without a stop or 'Arfur Riotus' plays up and no seat or handle bar position would help. :(

From memory, the ST13 seating position seemed very similar to the police ST11 which has bar risers standard. Felt quite relaxed for me at 5'8"

Ooops- I'm not a basketballer- you're right, 5'11". That's what comes of trying to be bi-lingual. :-[
