Hmmm  :think1  Another trip on a tankful, and only a couple hours from my Brother's place in Port.   :think1  Tempting.

Travel to Port Friday or Saturday, Back to Dorrigo Sunday, and back home Monday.  That's sounds like a plan.

Now to check what my little Bro is doing then!

If you need just a little more to wet your appetite to make the ride up the mountain to Dorrigo for the day or even the weekend.......

Saturday 3rd....Markets at Dorrigo showgrounds OR Live Jazz at Bellingen at the bottom of the mountain.

Sunday 4th....Markets in 3 Location in Coffs Harbour.

Check out the Worlds Smallest Motorcycle Museum in Dorrigo's Main street, amoung other memorabilia has a Restored WLA and side car on display.

See you there !!!!!!!

I've had a bit of interest from some friends who want to come along.
One's on a Blackbird probably with his pillion and the other's on an FJ1200 probably with his pillion.
At this rate I might be able to get my pillion (wife, not one of the kids) to come as well.

I've sorted out a DC supply for the Phone/GPS and recharging setup for the bluetooth for the helmet.

I'm spending Friday and Saturday nights in Port MacQuarie and considering spending Sunday night at the hotel and riding back to Brisbane on the Monday.

Looking forward to it.

With three coming from Sydney, two from the Brisbane region and the rest from somewhere in the middle seems like Dorrigo is a good central location.

I am sure you could make it a fun ride from Sydney and surrounds, just depends on what part of that area you hail from. The Putty Road, Gloucester, Thunderbolts Way to Uralla, then Armidale to Dorrigo wouldn't be hard to take in terms of rider enjoyment.

Brisbane offers some good rides to that area via (1) the Gwyder across from Glen Innes to Grafton; (2) The Mt Lindsay Hwy from Beaudesert, to Kyogle via Woodenbong or the Lions Road for the more adventurous; or (3) The Numinbah Valley, Chilingham, Tyalgum, Uki to Kyogle.

Put them all together and ride through the Numinbah to Kyogle, Then Casino to Tenterfield via the Bruxner Hwy, Down to Glen Innes and the Gwydir back to Grafton, then up the range to Nymboida and on to Dorrigo. Long way around though a day in motorcycle heaven for those who like to more use of the edges of their tyres.

Only problem from the above is overall time available and the amount of time one wants to spend in the seat..

Cheers

Dennis

Gadget, If your a early riser Port to Dorrigo via Gingers Crk, Walcha, Armidale, Ebor is a great ride...... Oxley Hwy from Long Flat through Gingers Crk to Walcha is one of the top twisty and 110 kph rides in the state. Be about 1 hr longer than up the Pathetic Hwy.....

Check out "Fuss Pots" coffee on the right in Ebor if you come that way.....

Hope the water truck doesn't work Sat.
Will there be more Qld shirts than below the border starters?
Be at the pub waiting for you, Dick.
Aim to leave coffs in time to get to markets.
This could have been a big weekend if I had looked at the calendar earlier.
Bris down to Warren for a farride could have chewed up part of Fri and Sat then back to Dorrigo either Sat/ Sun..
Blast the pillion for having a relly in Coffs. (Put it nicely in case she reads it)

One more sleep......if your in Dorrigo early or staying and at a lose end, here is a couple of POI's that may interest you.

Dangers Falls, about 2.5k's north of town follow Hickory St (main st), Vine St and out past the rural store for another 1k.

Rain forest centre and SkyWalk, few K' South of town on the road to the coast.

The little known Griffiths Lookout, At the very top of the Mountain turn onto Maynards Plains road for 1 k then left onto Mountain Top rd for about 5 k's.......sensational lookout over the coast and hinterland, spent a little time out their as a young bloke......Don't remember why  8)

I got away at 6:00 am after a Meat pie and Flavoured milk from the bakery and had a great run through there most of the way.  Had a bit of heavy Fog to contend with early and had to keep wiping the visor to maintain vision.

I was probably 30 km out of Grafton when a big male Eastern Grey jumped out on the road and propped.  Big emergency braking from about 80-90 km/h and I pulled up 5 meters short of him and then he decided to hop down the road (in my direction) at 30 km/h for about 300 meters before jumping back off into the grass.  After that it was all cruisy all the way home.  Stopped for breakfast at Macca Grafton and morning tea stop at Byron.

Bit disappointed to be overtaken by so many red and green P Platers  :law on the Pacific Highway though in NSW and Qld when I wasn't exactly going slow.

On the Gateway I thought I was going to see a lady rider ahead of me in the right lane get run over by a bloke in a White Commodore Ute who came out of nowhere to tailgate me until I moved over and then he shot past me and was tailgating her and not looking at the road all the time, busy fidgeting with something on his front seat, swerving all over a lane and a half, So I blasted the Stebel about four times so she'd know to look back.  Thankfully she moved over and he went on his reckless way.   :law

Will upload some photos of my trip later.

Cheers,
Gary

Here's a link to my photos for the trip.

I've included photos of the room I got at the Hotel/Motel.  I'd booked a Queen sized Bed with ensuite, for $90, but there was a stuff-up and the room hadn't been cleaned, so they gave me the Queen with Spa for the same price.  Very comfortable!.

We had an easy run to Dorrigo. Good to be out of the smoke (from bush fires in ranges) and breath some good clean air. Nice lunch with great people, local tour with tour guide Chris just getting back to hotel as storm hit, dinner and bed in the upstairs room on the corner of the veranda. Home after leisurely breakfast (included in room price) with plenty of stops for looking at things. ST didn't miss a beat or have any dramas.  Are these a great bike to travel on of what?
