OK folks - here is the next SEQld (and anyone else who can make it) RTE schedule..... SUNDAY OCT 28TH - 9AM
Here is the route.............
http://goo.gl/maps/9s7FL (http://goo.gl/maps/9s7FL)
We start at the BP Service Centre Caboolture Northbound at 0830 for a 0900 ride out.
We head up to the Steve Irwin Way exit and after a few kays - hit the backroads through some picturesque Golden Circle fruit producer's farms.
A nifty little back way in to Landsborough, threading our way through the Glasshouse Mountains, will see us climb the range and ride along the rim's edge of the township of Maleny, before dropping down again and motoring through Kilcoy to Esk where we might stop in and have a brew.
Then it's through the fantastic roads of Ravensbourne National Park to pop out at Hampton and then lunch at the Farmer's Arms Hotel at Cabarlah.

After this, we ride down through the Lockyer Valley, a few kays of highway motoring, then more backroads through Lowood to our final destination at Fernvale Bakery Tavern.
It's home how you want from there - but some of the more fortunate get to go up and over Mt Glorious in their travels. :grin
Hope to see a huge crowd for this one as the ride alone is fantastic - let alone the awesome company you'll get to enjoy.
-
Awesome Stuff you can count me in!
-
Cannot make this ride as I am already booked for Dorrigo on the 4th.
:bl11
-
|-i Noooooo. I have a family reunion on that weekend. Funnily enough, it's at Cabarlah on the 3rd and then an "immediate family" get-together at Crows Nest on the 4th. So I will be in the area but just not on the ST. Oh man.
-
Sounds like a great ride, but I've already committed to Dorrigo. :(
Enjoy.
Gadget
-
I have changed the date to 28th Oct so this does NOT clash with the Dorrigo ride.
Cheers, Diesel

:wht11 py
Happy about the date change. will have some funds by then, :runyay :runyay :runyay
So put me on the list to go.
Tipsy

Marissa and I should be good for this one :thumb
We're off on a 3 day ride this weekend staying over night at Bellingen (near Dorrigo) and Inverell. So will have to pass on the planned Dorrigo run.
Cheers
B & M :) :)

I have changed the date to 28th Oct so this does NOT clash with the Dorrigo ride.
Cheers, Diesel
Yahooo!! :thumbsup So glad you went forward and not back, as the weekend after Dorrigo, I've got to be Rocky for a Wedding. :thumb
Might be riding up for that one too!. Son and wife in the Covertible. :)
I'll speak to the little boss and see what's happening.
-
Aw, sorry guys but I'll be at Phillip Island for the Australian Moto GP that weekend. (Still waiting for the broken pannier lid though).
-
Unfortunately I won’t be able to make the ride due to work commitments :||||
Damn work getting in the way of a good ride :cuss
Anyway I hope you all have a great time, :runyay I look forward to reading the ride report and checking out the pics :thumbs
Cheers

-
have been to the farmer arms before, the food is great and xtra large :runyay
-
May I pass on the fact that the Beerwah/Peachester rd is now free of traffic lights ruining the fun in the bendy bits
Might be a worthy detour then at the western end of peachester you can turn right up bald knob rd and then resume the ride to Maleny.
-
I have changed the date to 28th Oct so this does NOT clash with the Dorrigo ride
:runyay Love ya work Diesel. Have penned this one in the diary.

:hatwave :runyay :hatwave :runyay :thumbs :thumbsup :eat :beer

I just found another little 'nook' of a road I'll take us all down as part of this ride - in a word.... "AWESOME!
As long as my bike is back together! >:() :fp
-
Looks good to me, count me in!
-
Just a suggestion: :think1
The BP at Caboolture gets quite busy so I suggest we meet up in the forecourt to the right-hand side of the traffic Island that separates the trucks and Cars. (to the left of the (A) on the map in the link below)

Only thought with that one Gadget, can people who want to fuel come back against the flow of traffic. We usually find a spot just up past the shops at the northern end but either way we'll manage to find each other. Especially as it looks like NO-ONE else is coming. :well

Hey Diesel. How different from the original route will it take us? I have a friend on a GTR 1000 who may join us from the Sunny Coast. Will we still head through Landsborough at some stage. Just trying to arrange a 'join in' location for him.
Cheers.

Might be able to make that, will let you know closer to day.

Sure Whizz - great stuff - but you are probably missing the GOOD half and far as riding and great scenery are concerned. :'(

Ah well, I'll catch all that great scenery some other time no doubt. So, arrival time at Esk?

No worries, I'll see you there.

Hey Whizz
I'm sure John has probably told you that the new seats take around 1000 - 1500k's to bed in and get comfortable. I have had both my ST seats done by John and loved both after they had bed in properly.
-
Thanks Barry, I had heard something along those lines so I'm not really expecting feather-bed comfort just yet, just means that I'll need to go RIDING to make them bed in quicker!! :rofl :rofl :rofl

:bl11
Hey STeveo. Depends where you are planning to join the 'train'.
If you are thinking of Esk, I would do Clifton/Gratham Road, out through Gatton, straight across the highway onto the Gatton/ Esk Road. You might want to check what Streak is planning and meet up with him somewhere.
-
Thanks Skip. I don't know that area very well and i will be leaving Tamworth in the dark to make lunch in one go, so anywhere before the lunch stop would be fine.

Hey Steveo,
Happy to meet up with you along the way, send me a message with your travel plans?

After a short run today ... Started at Capalaba Macca's @ 8:30 , up onto the gateway to Dohles rocks rd, through Petrie and onto Dayborough by this time ambient temp was 30* . Kept riding through to Sanford village now 33* . So after a cold drink I rode another hour in this heat home.
May I suggest an earlier start to the ride day to avoid some of the heat..
-
Just a reminder this is next SUNDAY!!!!!

Won't be as hot on Sunday. And why didn't you turn the air con down on the STing ?
-
.... May I suggest an earlier start to the ride day to avoid some of the heat..
Sorry mate - meant to reply sooner. The main reason for this time is that the kitchen at Cabarlah doesn't open until 12 noon.
I hear you on the heat tho - hopefully there's some truth in what Alan Skip Wilkie was saying about cooler weather being here.
Cheers, Diesel

Good onya Diesel. Remember the last time I made a weather prediction. The ride home from Murphy's Creek prompt your memory. :crackup Yeah. Not so funny now is it.
Cheers mate. See ya Sundy.

On last Sundays ride someone mentioned the ambient temp was about 31* to this I replied its only 24* but you are always 'COOLER' when you ride a Goldwing....

STeveo,
Further to what Skip said, Warwick to Esk via Clifton is a wild road, its 147Ks and Google maps says it'll take 2hr 10 minutes. Warwick to Esk via Willowbank, Walloon and Blacksoil is 178Ks and Google says 2hrs 16 minutes! 30Ks extra for 6 minutes more, this will give you an idea of what the Clifton road is like, I know I did it a few weeks ago!!! not a road to be doing at the end of a long haul!. Your choice but I'd think seriously about it if I were you!
Diesel and entourage are expecting to hit Esk at about 11:00, and I'll be going up to Esk via Willowbank to be there for then, so if you want to meet up we can. Drop me a PM if you'd like.
-
Well - took this pic of my bike tonight.......
Better pull me finger out if I am to ride out wiff ya's on Sundee! :eek
Cheers, Diesel
-
You'd have R&R (remove & refit) down to an art, 5 minutes tops
-
Diesel, are you going for the naked look? :think1 you are getting too much heat from the motor, that's one way to fix it :nahnah :blk13
-
OK - back on track.....
I will try to assemble at "A" on this map - or if that is not allowed, or dangerous - look for STs in the carpark around "B" on the map - either way, you won't miss us. (zoom out to get more bearings if you need to).

PS - for those of you with UHF radio - channel 13 is the OzSTOC channel when on group rides. :phone

Here is the updated ride route (in case you were joining in along the way)....
http://goo.gl/maps/SUONP (http://goo.gl/maps/SUONP)
Main changes are now to go along Bald Knob road (out of Landsborough) instead of along the ridge at Maleny; AND
Exit Freeway at Plainlands now onto Brightview Rd to head to Lowood/Fernvale (because I haven't been on that stretch before). :grin
Looking forward to seeing y'all out there.

Fair call :-++, I just dont think I have seen an ST1100 getting around without them before :crazy
Looks like some sort of monster 80s model sports bike :grin

Good ride that, barely got wet :-) nice to put faces to names to forum-handles.

Sorry I couldn't join you guys but I woke very early this morning with a migraine. My drugs stopped it, but unfortunately they stop me too, I just sleep!, just about coming too now and I'll still feel groggy and tired tomorrow. Still at least I don't have to suffer the pain as I've had to for the last 20 years.
Oh we'll, next time for a ride!
Cheers

:wht13 Great ride today!! Good food, great company, only a few spots of rain, perfect riding temperature. Could have been veging in front of the idiot box watching the MotoGP, but that was way better. Thanks all! Dave

:thumbsup Fantastic day. A great route. About 450 k's for me. Thanks Diesel.
Didn't even need the wet gear. Lucky. Cos I don't have any. :grin
Nice to meet a few new faces. Thanks to all who rode today. You all helped make it a good day.

Thanks Deisel & Streak for organising a good day ride. :beer
I got to bed at 4.00 after work, (joys of shift work) woke at 8.50 and got ready and headed down to Esk
to meet up with Streak & RustyEB for Coffee, then waited for the rest to turn up from Brisbane
We had a good ride up to Cabarlah where we had a great lunch & a good chat.
Then we headed down through Murphy's Ck to the Warrego highway where I parted company and headed back through
Murphy's Ck back to Toowoomba. I only did 200km but still a good ride & good to meet a few more ST rider's
Looking forward to the next ride

A fantastic day! Travelled 486 km all up and covered a lot of new roads to me. Really enjoyed my day, and the company, roads and food were excellent.
Enjoyed catching up with every one including Dave who put me onto OZSToC in the first place! :thumb :grin
Thanks very much Diesel. :thumbsup A well planned journey and thoroughly enjoyable to ride.
Cheers,

What a Great day out :thumbsup We were fortunate with the weather and appreciated the cooler riding temperatures. Marissa, Beth and I all had a ball. It is always good to catch up with the friendly faces of the Ozstoc crew and share a day out.
Thanks to Diesel and Streak for organising another enjoyable day :-++
Looking forward to the next one :thumb

Come on guys, is that it...3 pictures only??? no-one got any more? :well

I have some but they are the same shots. No need to repeat them.
My day started at 3.45am dark o'clock (Queensland time), on the road at 4.00am with a breakfast stop at Glen Innes, refuel and cuppa in Warwick and on to the Farmers arms. Had time for a quick look through the markets at the back of the pub before the group arrived and handshakes and greetings all round. I left the group at Fernvale, down the Logan to my daughters at Carrara. 748km for the day. :)

:o owning a white ST has its plusses and minuses..... Plusses: I have the road to myself as tintops in front catch a glimpse in their mirror and suddenly start behaving themselves. Minuses: um? Can't think of one right now!

Minus... Plowing into the back of a tintop that just slammed on the brakes after catching a glimpse of you in their mirror...... :law

Not as unlikely as you might think. When I had my ex-Cop ST1100 I saw some frantic tintop behaviour almost daily. Wearing a white helmet and blue jacket only heightened the illusion. If I had Tipsy's blue checker stripes they would have been holding arms out the window ready for the cuffs.

I was riding behind a young guy driving a Jap ute one day, and he moved to the shoulder and stopped. I heard from my nephew a day later, that the guy was his friend, and he thought had been done so pulled over, he was quite confused when I didnt stop for a chat.. :crackup :crackup :crackup :crackup

All the best,

Hey Tipsy. Hows the video editing of this outing going ?
-
:wht11 py
Very slowly as I am having fun reading the instructions due to a right eye cataract causing a focus problem,
Tipsy
any one is welcome to come over and help me

Strewth Tipsy, you're falling to bits! You've got more farkles than your bike.
Just don't walk backwards or you'll scare the crap out of people. :grin
-
:wht11 py
Its the farkles that I need for the bod but there is a delay in the delivery of the parts, so the back orders are something fierce,
I Believe it has something to do with the payment plan of the State Government Can(T) Do(it) Campbell.... :|||| :o :'( :|||| :o :'( due to the over spending by the previous leader, cant understand why she ran away to NSW , :grin :grin :grin
