Hi to all Stowners and congrats on a VERY informative and well maintained site!
Your forum is a fantastic site for sharing farkles, technical repairs, procedures and just a bit of fun!
I am now 46 and was a Honda mechanic in L.A. (usa) many, many years ago for a short time, while I enjoyed the problem solving, I didn't enjoy the dirty hands and poor pay, so I moved on....
I have been riding for 20 odd years various bikes incl xl550, cb750sc, gsx750ef, gsxr750, vfr1100, vt750c6 and have now an intrest in the ST1300A!
Had a test ride on a pre-owned 2003 model in grey, from a local dealer recently and liked the stability and torque.
My question is a bit odd, but hopefully a Victorian member might know the answer....
The dealer (www.a1motorcycles.com.au/UsedBikes.aspx (http://www.a1motorcycles.com.au/UsedBikes.aspx)) has no previous log book or history of owners as they purchased the bike from "Geoff Taylor Honda" dealer in Dandenong that has changed hands.
The bike has 35k on the clock but the appearnace cosmetically, does not reflect this at all...it has been cosmetically neglected at best.
Perhaps this bike belonged to a currnet or past "STownerclub" member you may be able to put me in touch with to get further info?
Rego DC681

Thanks in advance! Any leads would be appreciated! :)

Zev

Hi Zev and welcome to the site.
Look around there are plenty of ST's out there.
Good luck with your search.
Cheers
Sab
-
Will do, thanks Sab.
btw, what do you think a 2003 st1300A with 35,000 km should sell for?
-
I'd say under $10,000. I had a look at that one online. There are better examples out there. Keep a watch on the site, someone will know of one.
-
Welcome Zev, enjoy your time on the forum. :beer
Have to agree with Sabie, so keep looking :thumbs
-
G’day Zev, welcome to the forum :hatwave
-
thanks, will keep hunting....

Hi Streak
Thanks for the reply. I have contacted that dealer and they informed me it was the non ABS version, (pre 06/20003).
I think ABS is improtant on a 300 kg bike, what are your thoughts?
regards
Zev
-
hmmm there are many thoughts on what the pros and cons of ABS is, i dont have it, i have read in many places where it is has saved many a rider.
i think it is an excellent tool to have, and it is one more way we can stay safer on the road, but value in the cost is also a factor, here is another ST1300 with ABS under 10k

this one also bears looking at, judging by the photos, he has taken alot of care of it

G'day Zev - welcome aboard mate.
Any luck yet?
Hope you're all set for the National Rally next March - it'll be great to see you and all the others there.
When I bought mine, I scoured the classifieds and internet - then found one 1200kms away. It was an immense amount of fun retrieving her and riding home on my new bike! Hope you have the same joy/luck.
Cheers, Diesel

It really is a magnificent machine!
i have already added:
aux switched relay fuse box
GPS mount and power
12v aux socket in R glovebox
Nautilis compact air horn
Vista cruise control
Mp4
Wraped the headers (to reduce left ankle roast)
air hawk seat from prev bike to pillion seat.
Now awaiting shipment of oxford heated grips, amber led stip to inside mirrors
would love a "Russel all day seat" or equivilant and perhaprs new Akropavic cans to improve the bikes soundtrack slightly ....but need to recover from initial expense firstly.
thnaks for the invite and welcome again!

Nice bike Zev, much nicer than the one in A1. I looked at it sometime ago, but with no service history, and the shocking cosmetic condition of the bike for such low kms, made no sense in buying it. It was also on consignment from a person known to staff within A1, who actually didn't want to buy it. Anyway, it's now sold to someone unknown to me.
Your new bike looks and sounds fantastic, congratulations....... :beer See you on a ride.....
-
Welcome zevk, glad to see you bought the right colour. Depending on your height and how you like to ride check out these:-
