Title: OzSTOC Motto/Saying, What do you think?
Post by: Streak on October 17, 2012, 01:32:27 PM
Hello All,
We have talked about this between diesel, Brock, Saaz, TJ, and a few others.

The FarRiders have a great Motto for the Group "It's Just A Road" sums them up brilliantly, For ourselves we have drawn a blank, so we are throwing it out to all of you, give us in 5 words or less what sums up OzSTOC (constructively)?

"Insert Witty Tag Line here"

"Insert Witty Tag Line here"

"Insert Witty Tag Line here" Don't think much of that for a motto !

Whenever I hear Tina Turner singing "You're Simply the Best", then I'm riding the bike, I always think 'That's what I'm riding.... The best.'

That's the best I can do....... "SIMPLY THE BEST"

Was it Rolls Royce that when asked about the power output of their vehicles would never quote a figure but would simply state "adequate"

As far as I'm concerned the motto should be "More than adequate", referring to more than just power output.

That motto "It's Just A Road" just sucks. I mean all they do is ride on it?????? not enjoy it, no have a look around just lets see how long we can ride for and how far we can go??????
As far as a "Motto go's" I reckon my motto of UPU2 has always worked for me. Been on the back of my bike for many, many years

"Pan-Australis via STyle"

"Pan-Australis via ST"

"Pan-Australis on a STeed"

"Pan-Terra Australis via STyle"

You get the idea.  :)

Where Pan- has the following meaning:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/pan (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/pan)

pan-
a combining form meaning “all,” occurring originally in loanwords from Greek ( panacea; panoply ), but now used freely as a general formative ( panleukopenia; panorama; pantelegraph; pantheism; pantonality ), and especially in terms, formed at will, implying the union of all branches of a group ( Pan-Christian; Panhellenic; Pan-Slavism ). The hyphen and the second capital tend with longer use to be lost, unless they are retained in order to set off clearly the component parts.

"Touring in STyle"

Couldn't come up with anything better.  It combines what the bike does with the usual pun on ST.

The prize goes to ST2UP.    :thumbsup

"Touring in STyle" is definitely a great term  :thumb

But do we want to restrict things to just touring?  I think the ST family is a "Ride in STyle" in the broadest sense.  I commute, do some sports bike type riding, but can can still do the Border Run at the same time.  "Doing it in Style" ?

I don't think of my ST as just a touring bike. It does every sort of riding I need.

I would be quite happy with "Touring in Style"
