Title: Another Red One in NQ
Post by: Mystic2 on October 21, 2012, 02:43:23 PM: Hi all , I finally joined and now I am getting the hang of this IPad thing , I am a 1959 model and have had motor bikes since early 70's Suzuki mini bike , then raced a Indian mini bike (two stroke) & Yamaha yz 80 , up graded to Yz125 , Yz250 , Yz465 , Yz490 , It250 , XT250 , TT600 , I was racing motocross , Lap & Short circuit & Eduros over some 15 years , I was very lucky to get sponsorship by the local Yamaha dealer during this time , giving me the chance to upgrade to a new model every year. I did my time as a Electrican , then worked at the Yamaha shop that's when I got the first road bike Yamaha XV 750 Midnight special . The Xv was sold to get a NX 650 Honda , it was sold to start our Business Electrical Contractor , bikes took a back seat for about 8 years , then I realised it shouldn't be all work & no play so along come Honda Shadow 750 so Kim & I could do a few trips after a couple we realized we need a bit more comfort , traded the Shadow for our Red St 1300, Hondas were always Red when I raced ! I have Sonic animal alerts on the forks , just fitted Michelin dual compound tyres , Baer intercom , Air hawk seat , bar risers and top box. I have had a wake call in May with a Stent fitted in back artery , the passing of my Mother in law , I have decided life is too short , enjoy while you can , being your own boss has the good & bad , such as hours you work but sometimes you customers dictate when you work , but I have a couple of fellow contractors who help me , so I have passed a lot of work on . I also like fishing & 4wd Camping , I hope I haven't gone over board with this but some times it's good to get it out. This site is very well run & organised , a Credit to the people in charge. I have been lucky to catch up a few members in my area , I am looking forward to the RTE 4 th November.

It is amazing what a wake up call can do for you, mine was a little further from home than yours but we went on holidays for two weeks and came home to a phone message that a good friend had passed away at 55 and we didn't even know she had been sick.

PS definitely agree about Red STs being the best :)

Like saaz - I'd love to re-visit up that way as I didn't much chance last time on the bike - so give us a yell saaz and pick me up on the way through.
