Had a bit of a mind flip last night thought it would be a good idea to go for a ride once the wife was asleep. I need to think these things out a bit more pitch black and close to freezing oh well it’s the only way I’m going to get some riding in. So thermals on 2 pair of socks 2 pair of pants T shirt polo shirt fleece and coat and 2 pair of gloves jeez I can hardly move. :)

A quick blast up the M62 and turn off through Newhey up the A640 to Huddersfield by now I’m feeling a little cold but the routes in the sat nav and I’m following it.
Cut back across past Sowerby Bridge and down Blackstone Edge it’s a nice road but I’m losing the feeling in my fingers so I stop for a fag and a cup of coffee and try to warm my hands a bit.

Coffee’s finished and it’s started snowing but I’m enjoying myself too much to cut it short so down through Littleborough and back up to Bacup stopped snowing it didn’t last long. Through Haslingden and Down the Edenfield road cut through Heywood and home and now its raining.

Just short of 70 mile a little over 2 hrs roughly 60% with no street lights freezing cold/snow/rain and a big smile on my face.
There is something about riding a bike that makes me put up with these crap conditions wish I could put my finger on it.

Good onya Keith.
They say a bad day on a bike is the same as a great day off it!
I love it when people get 'inspired' like that. Thanks for sharing.

I know i said i wouldn't do it again BUT i did it again. :p
After a couple of days spent :|||| needed some me time so off i went, i'd forgotten how much fun the ST can be.
Followed the sat nav for about 30 mins then got really adventurous and turned it off :grin started turning left or right on a whim.
Amazing how roads you know by day can catch you out at night good job the ST is so forgiving. ::)
Left the house feeling a bit >:( :( 2hrs 50 mile later :thumb :) 8)

A 2 hour run in that sort of cold does wake you up. We still might get a close to zero c night around here so worth a thought, but then the kangaroos and wombats, and perhaps emus, are still roaming. Sheep here tend to sleep in the cold as well. But then I need to test out the heated jacket and new heated grips....
(Just for Keith, a wombat is basically a cow shrunk down to a small pig size but far more dense. If you hit one you destroy the undercarriage of a car, and not nice on a bike. They are dark so can be hard to pick up on the road. Emus are basically like Ostriches )

At this time of the year, one also has to deal with mating Drop Bears. Very angry and dangerous critturs.

Was a bit warmer last night so glad we don't have critters to contend with though some taxi drivers could fall into that category.

Those drop bears, it's the ones that bounce you have to watch out for.... >:()
