Here is a great little tip to get the old handgrip off without cutting through it with a Stanley knife....

The second guy is asking to slice himself with the Stanley knife. Keep your other hand away when cutting, do not put it under the area you sre working on. :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek >:() >:() >:() >:()

So what's the liquid he applies to the grip to slide it on?

I guess it's rubbing alcohol (metho) that he cleans the throttle tube with after removing the old one.

You'd want to be pretty quick sliding the new one on, since the alcohol evaporates rapidly, leaving you with the grip stuck half on, half off.

Ive always used hairspray to install new grips. It stays wet long enough to slide the grip on, dries firm enough to hold the grip in position, and the grips can be removed quite easily.

When I did the heated grips I used compressed air to get them off. I was apprehensive at first, within a second off. Amazing.

To get them on, they warned about hard to put on etc. They slid on easy. Twisted into position and apply superglue on either end so they stay put.
I didn't like the idea of glue everywhere. Makes it too hard to clean the area if I wanted to change my grips latter on.

I use an aircompressior to get them off . I use to use hairspray, but with heated grip the hair spray wouldn't last. Now I use electrical tape, one layer overlapped the length of the grip, then I get petrol and wipe it over the tape then slide the grip on with the help off the air comp. I haven't had any trouble doing it this way. I also do my dirt bikes like this an the get covered in mud and water  :blk13
