Title: New tyres on the way
Post by: Couch on November 05, 2011, 08:12:12 PM
I was intending to ride my bike in to Horizon Honda in Hobart and get them to fit a new rear tyre for me but after numerous phone calls still no tyres on the horizon (to coin a phrase). So I thought damm it, I'll rip the rear wheel out myself and order a tyre from Jake Wilson in the States and just get Horizon to fit it.  So that's exactly what I did. Then I had an additional thought........instead of paying the freight cost ($55.00) for just one tyre to come out, why not get another set of tyres as well for future use. So now I'm also having a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2s sent out. Total freight cost for the 3 tyres is $85.00 so that brings the cost per tyre down even more. Horizon was wanting $259.00 for the cost of a rear tyre + $49.00 (total $309.00) to take the rear wheel off and fit the tyre. I'm now paying $498.00 including freight, for 3 tyres (2 rear and 1 front) and only have to pay for fitting and balancing. It might mean my bikes out of action for a couple of extra days but I figure  the savings worth it!! :grin

For those who might be interested......the removal of the rear wheel was a simple procedure.

I did the same for my 1300. Saved a bit and learned a bit about my bike. Well worth the effort, if you are able to do it.
