Title: Possible RTE to Clifton/Grantham Road
Post by: Whizz on November 05, 2012, 04:39:34 PM
Gents (and anyone else reading this forum),

There has previously been a level of interest shown in riding the Grantham-Clifton Road, so would anyone be interested in a Saturday RTE from Ipswich to the Royal Hotel at Roadvale for lunch , then down to the bottom of the Clifton-Grantham Road, out at Grantham for a coffee, then back to Yamanto? About a 230K loop (not counting whatever you need to do to get to and from Ipswich), sometime late November or early December. If there is enough interest then I'll cobble together a route and put it up. :crazy

Whaddya think?? :eat

:hatwave  As much notice as possible for me thanks Whizz. You may want to think about doing morning coffee at Grantham then doing the loop to Roadvale for lunch. From memory, the 'Grantham connection' closes early afternoon. Once at Roadvale, a shorter journey home for most, rather than doing 'the loop' after lunch. I for one, would like to do something out that way.  :thumbs
Cheers.

I'm easy about which way round we do it. We can go from Blacksoil to Grantham, then down to Roadvale via the Clifton Road, then home from there if that would suit more people. Same distance, just a different start time!  :grin

Were you around when we did the Grantham "Help The Economy" run in March?  The idea was to arrive with empty tanks and put some money in the economy at the bowser and the Takeaway next door.

Hence the idea of having a morning coffee there is a good one.

A run up the Range is a good idea for Summer, since it's usually cooler up there.

Post a date and see how many are up for it.  At this stage none of my December Saturdays are booked.

Yes, I was on the original Grantham run, in fact I think it was the first one I did, and I think that now, 7 months down track, it is worth repeating. I'll check on a few things, come up with a date and put up a route in the next day or so. Then we'll see who is interested in a ride.  :grin

Hi Whizz,
You can count me in as long as it is a Saturday.

My next plan was going to include a stop at the Australian Motorcycle Museum for our morning cuppa...

Would this work into a plan as a meeting place/coffee stop?

No worries if not - just throwing it out there.

Cheers, Diesel (who would love to join you on this ride)

Thanks Whizz

EDIT:  Oops! - just saw your other post mate - scratch this.

I've put another Topic in the QLD Rides section with the plans for the RTE there, so please direct responses there.

Diesel, I see no reason why we can't meet at the Museum if you'd prefer, what do other think? (Replies in the other Topic, please)
