Hi All, I've been a member for a while but due to circumstances ie no job I have been bikeless for AGES :fp Well after a long time I have finally landed a job. Its only part time so far but even so, it pays a hell of a lot more than Newstart.
I have spotted a Burgundy ST1100 in Kurri on the Ulysses website which seems to tick all the boxes. Any chance it belongs to an OZSTOC member? I will now have to keep my fingers crossed that it is still there when I have saved some money.
Coincidentally, my first (and only) ride on an ST1100 was when I was living in Diesel territory, Toowoomba. My mate Bill and I swapped bikes for a while and I got to take his Burgundy ST and his missus for a fang oops a gentle ride, and I was hooked :thumbs He seemed to like my W650 Kwaka too. I am soooooo looking forward to joining you STeerers on a RTE soon.

its all good Ian even if thaty bike is gone, there are many helpful people here who will step up and help you find the bike just for you :) and then we will also help you spend all your hard earned money on adding bits and pieces, (don't laugh that is what happened to me with this lot).

Congratulations on the new job Ian :runyay and good luck with getting the bike :thumb

Keep plugging away.
I had to wait about 5 years from. "Gee, I would like one of those," to riding one and buying it. I still have the one I test rode and I have never regretted it since. Good luck with saving.
I'm going to preach here. Stay away from booze, women and smokes. You'll get there heaps quicker and it'll be well worth the hard wait.

a gem i missed for 70 years
Stay away from booze, women and smokes.

Toowoomba is actually Streak territory (at least at the moment). I remember researching bikes before deciding on an ST11, as everything I read ticked every box I wanted in a bike. Once I actually had a ride I realised it was it, even with the standard soft suspension up front as the bike just handled so well I think it is better than my much lighter Suzuki GS1000. Continually scrapping the pegs and centre stand meant fork springs just had to go in.
Harie, you would have had a boring 70 years though :thumb

It now has a genuine (who cares) Honda backrest, newer tyres and a corbin seat. I've got some plans to make it a little prettier and get some stickers for it too
