For those blasphemous monsters amongst us, or those who want to keep an eye on our adversaries - here is a great write up on the newly released, gadget and technology packed, FJ1300....

Looks like a fine machine, actually.
Cheers, Diesel

It actually looks a bit small, seems like either the rider is 8 feet tall, or the leg position for a normal sized bloke is too cramped, wonder what it would feel like after 800 or 900Ks in the saddle?? Don't think I like it, but then I test rode an FZR as a comparison to the ST when I bought my machine and didn't like it as much as the ST...hence the reason I bought the ST!! :wink1

Everything about it says I stay with the ST1300. Power only gets serious above 5000 RPM!! You've got to be kidding!
The fuel economy is poorer than I get, the tank is smaller, the wind protection worse and the steering tiring.
It does have a good cruise control and heated grips as standard, and the panel is much easier to read. It's 30 kg or more lighter but you can't have both panniers and top box if you have a pillion because it exceeds the design weight limit. (That said, our panniers and top box are limited to 9 kg, which I routinely exceed in all three).
Still can't seriously consider a Triumph, even though the reports are very positive.
All too hard. Stick with good old Ruby for a long while yet.

Ash is over 6 foot in the old terms. The FJR has always been a bit more on the sport side, along with the GTR. Physically it is a bit smaller, but still works fine. The Triumph will be ST13 priced in Australia, and have longer service intervals (16,000kms) I woulds wait until a year or two goes by with that powertrain in use. Early Explorers with the same drivetrain report some early issues. As well, it seems it is quite mechanically noisy, which might suit some after some more 'character'. When I get time have to do some test riding I feel next year.
And the ST13 goes on seemingly unchnaged..wonder if they will lower the price?
