Title: final progress report
Post by: hobs on November 18, 2012, 07:22:18 PM
Here is the bike complete ready for the rego check on Friday. Have checked that everything works and had a couple of sneeky rides to check running gear and pump tyres up.
Will be replacing the tyres as discussed on previous post after rego check and can legally ride to the bike shop.

Thanks for all those who gave advice during this restoration. It was a long 14mths and many labour hours. Spent about $2000, so after initial purchase of $300, thought it was a worthwhile project.

Hope to enjoy many miles of riding very soon. Going to work in Whyalla in the new year, so will have many miles of straight road to test.

It looks magnificent!  Is the $300 a typo!?  You got that great bike for $2300!?
The only downside is the number of hours you put in- the very real upside is just how well you know the bike.

No   It is not a typo. I paid $300 for the bike. Very neglected and needing a lot of TLC and restoring. Most of the plastic was broken. I repaired all but one piece.

Well you deserve heaps of cred in here.  A lot of work, but a product you can be very proud of.
You'd have no trouble doubling your money, but you'd probably only be paying yourself a couple of dollars an hour for your work.
