So living in a cooler climate as we do here (the locals start dropping dead in the Main St at 25 degrees) we have our warm riding gear well sorted....but a little jaunt yesterday left us some what :H :H......our current gear has a few zipper vents, helmet vents and summer mesh gloves.....wearing cotton T-shirts etc, all comfortable to 26 degrees and can cope to about 30 degrees when on the move.
So now giving some serious thought to gear to keep us on the move in the greater than 30 degree days and well beyond, so far on the list;
Hydration, hydration, hydration......have Camelbaks (chilli or freeze overnight)
Mesh Jacket and ? Pants..... Whats working for others ??????
Wicking long sleeve T-shirt....(koolgardie safe principal with mesh jacket)
Colour of clothing and helmet....even if can only get a black mesh jacket throw a over size white t-shirt over it to repel sun.
So what do you do in the heat, what works ????, what just a myth ????
Cheers
Chris

Tried the frozen camel back once on a 30 degree day couldn't suck any water for 3 hrs , until it melted enough. Talk about :H head. Won't do that again :|||| :|||| :|||| :blk13

AJ, I'll bet it kept your back nice and cool though! :M

Talking about camel-backs, I know that this is going to sound like a fatuous question but how do current users keep the nipple within easy reach of their mouths whilst riding? There really isn't much room in my helmet around the mouth area, and I already have the microphone right in front of my lips. So is there any particular trick, or helmet accessory that I could use to maintain the position of the nipple without having to stick my finger up the inside of my helmet, which I think would prove to be both dangerous and well-nigh impossible.

When it gets to being over 35Deg c. I do not bother to get the ride out . But instead I turn on the air cond. ,then open the fridge and commence to initate the obligority beer tasting, whilst watching some of my favoutite videos,
Hopoe that this helps.
Cheers to all.

This is my current gear. The jacket is a motodry "Bella". I also wear a white helmet. I don't bother freezing the camelback, just fridge-cold water, or if a long ride half water half powerade.

White pants must be hard to keep clean.
Townsville, late afternoon or early evening rides. Although the temp doesn't go much over 32-34, it's the humidity that gets ya. Similar to Darwin, but not as bad. Makes winter riding magic.... :thumbs

Unfortunately that was the best I could do from my iPhone. The wonderful Streak fixed it so you don't get a cricked neck any more :)
