more air! and it does work. k&n filter under cover, lightly oiled not to many holes, pipes but better "performance" (not superbike) has greatly improved. i useto wear plugs out at around 3-5k klms. cannot remember last plug change but long before going to wagga towing trailer. besides that cover damaged and have another good one.

I have tried various combinations of extra air entry points on the ST11 with a K&N filter.  A few probably equivalent to the above add a bit of extra performance, but going too many detracts. Nothing a few rubber grommets to block off a few extra holes won't fix.  Not thta much in it really as the whole air intake system (long trumpets) are the main design parameters that is hard to improve.  A peaky power delivery from an ST11 is really defeating the purpose.

Royce,

Am looking at a K & N filter now. What size holes did you put into your air box?

TIA
Nate

I too have a little trouble with the theory behind what the extra holes in the air box do.

On any given motor the induction stroke will only suck so much air/fuel mixture into a cylinder. By adding extra holes you're only adding another hole for the air to enter which reduces the air inflow from the original inlet.

cannot remember but central to the rim.
as far as stock air flow I can see what you're saying BUT its worked on my ST. I followed several american who'd done this successfully
