Title: New way home
Post by: Shiney on January 12, 2013, 09:06:23 AM
When I was leaving work yesterday I decided to go home a different and more entertaining way. :runyay

So I left the City (Brisbane) and headed out to Samford Village. :blu13

From here it was out to Daybro, where I noticed I was running low on fuel (reading 90k to empty) :eek

http://goo.gl/maps/zZOYp (http://goo.gl/maps/zZOYp)

Then on to Youngs Crossing Rd

On the way out of Dayboro I saw two bikes a kilometre or two down the road, by the time I had reached the turnoff to Youngs Crossing Rd I'd caught up to them.
It was at this point that I noticed that the lead bike was a ST1100 :bl11.  :think1 So I decided to follow and pass on the good word that is OzSTOC :grin

So we headed along  Youngs Crossing Rd, turned onto Protheroe Rd, onto Forgan Rd past Lake Samsonvale and then on to Winn Rd. :runyay

I'd tried getting their attention a few times but they appeared to be enjoying the ride to much and by the time they turned onto to Clear Mountain Road I was starting to think they would never stop and I'd run out of fuel before they did :fp

So I hit the horn and waved like an idiot... they pulled over and I finally got a chance to say hi :hatwave

The rider of the blue ST1100 :bl11 is Dave and he had never heard of us before, I gave him a card and explained a little about us
Dave said that him and his mate had been out on the bikes since 05:00 riding over Mt Mee and were now on their way to work (it was at about 07:00 by this time)
So I said goodbye and Dave said he would sign up and they left :hatwave

Well since I was there, and I still needed to get home, I decided I may as well ride over the mountain :wink1 :grin
So over Clear Mountain, onto Eatons Crossing Rd, left onto South Pine Rd and home to Strathpine.

All in all a good ride after a long night at work :runyay

You keep going home a long way like that and your Missus is going to get suspicious.    :eek

Just don't get one of those Spotwalla thingies they're on about elsewhere in the forum.

So you think you're a Romeo, playing a part in a picture-show
We take the long way home, take the long way home
Cos you're the joke of the neighbourhood, why should you care if you're feeling good
Take the long way home, take the long way home
There are times that you feel you're part of the scenery, all the greenery is comin' down boy
Then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture, oh it's peculiar, she used to be so nice

Lonely days turn to lonely nights, you take a trip to the city lights
And take the long way home, take the long way home
You never see what you want to see, forever playing to the gallery
You take the long way home, take the long way home
When you're up on the stage it's so unbelievable, unforgettable, how they adore you
But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity, oh calamity, well is there no way out?

Good onya Shiney. And all that is is our backyard. Cool hey. Next time, head out Waterworks Road and right into Settlement Road then left onto Samford Road. Better than going all the way to Alderley I reckon.

Yep, Settlement Road has a few good corners.  More fun than Stewart Road.
But once you get out that far, you'll want to do Mt Nebo and the run down Mt Glorious and Carrol will have the rolling pin out when you get home.    |-i

Great stuff Shiney. Glad the other punters didn't get upset about ANOTHER Dave signing up.       :nahnah

It was just a bit of fun on the way home from work that I thought I’d share with you all, I’m glad you enjoyed it :grin

Thanks for the tip Skip, next time I’ll head out along Waterworks Rd :thumb

I’ll take your advice Biggles and make sure not to go to far out and end up riding Mt Nebo & Mt Glorious. (I don’t want to cop the rolling pin from Carrol when I get home >:())

Thanks for all the comments guys :hatwave
