Title: Newbie in Tweed Heads
Post by: Baz48 on January 16, 2013, 08:50:35 PM
Hi
I'm Barry from Tweed Heads and have recently joined the OzStoc group.  My ST1300A is a 2004 model which I bought almost 5 years ago with 6,000km on the clock.

Originally from NZ I also own a '73 BMW R75/5 (266,000km) and an '89 Honda NX 650. both of which I brought with me from NZ in 2005.   I bought the BMW new and collected it in Munich, Germany and used it for travel in Europe, Scandanavia, and the UK before returning to NZ   These 2 bikes are my daily commuters and I keep the ST1300 "for best".  The ST1300 is a fantastic bike and a very different touring machine from my old BMW - thank goodness for new technology!  The BMW is still is a great reliable bike which is cheap to own and run but is now showing its age when compared to the ST.

My ST is currently in the shop with the dreaded and seemingly common knock sensor issue waiting to be resolved (see my post in "knock sensors" or "Wanted") and after almost 2 months I'm hoping it won't be too long before I can ride it again!

Intending to stop working this year I'm looking forward to lots of long rides on the ST1300 interspersed with house renovations and holidays in our motorhome.

The forums are a great way to keep in touch and seek advice - I've been a member of the ST Owners Forum in the USA for some time and now look forward to digesting many of the posts here at OzStoc

Cheers
Barry

Hello Barry and welcome  :thumb

I hope your bike issue is resolved soon!

We are all heading to Esk for coffee on Saturday morning if you wanted to drive down and meet a few of the faces.

The brains trust here is very good, and never short of advice!

Cheers

Streak (Graham)

Thanks to everyone for your warm welcome to the group.  Hope to see some of you at the Biloela event in July.

Thankfully I have my ST at home again now after a lengthy stint in the shop with the dreaded knock sensor issue.  If anyone is interested in how the problem was resolved I have posted the outcome in the "Knock Sensor" thread within the Forum.

Regards

Baz48
