WOW! Just imagine! Go for it guys, and behave yourselves and we might all get a chance.
For those who don't like it- don't do it! :grin

And then the fighting started......
Some of the badly thought out, and written arguments against :|||| :||||
Its already sort of legal here in WA

A quick search before I posted this on another site I inhabit produced this:
http://s7.zetaboards.com/qld_motorcycle_rider/search/?c=1&q=lane+filter&type=post&sort=desc&forum%5B%5D=-1&s_m=5&s_d=17&s_y=2012&e_m=1&e_d=24&e_y=2013 (http://s7.zetaboards.com/qld_motorcycle_rider/search/?c=1&q=lane+filter&type=post&sort=desc&forum%5B%5D=-1&s_m=5&s_d=17&s_y=2012&e_m=1&e_d=24&e_y=2013)
That's a very interesting account.
I've read all the arguments in this (and other forums) for and against filtering.
As I said above- to each his own. If you don't like it, don't do it.
Do I judge others doing it? You betcha!! I'm talking about the crotch rocket fraternity who blast down between the lanes at 60 kph (maybe more). They (and the straight thru pipe brigade) give us all a bad name.

Just been reading some of the pathetic, closed-minded 'comments' made by cage drivers on this trial in Sydney. Dear God what is the world coming to when these morons are given licenses to drive a ton of metal round the streets? These people need to walk until they can learn to play nicely with all road users! :spank :spank :spank :well :well :well

The Roads Minister Duncan Gay is wrong when he says lane filtering is currently against the law.
If you pass a vehicle on the right in a line of traffic but don't cross the lane line on the right of that vehicle you are simply overtaking that vehicle.
In NSW it's not an offence to do it, but, if you pass a vehicle and travel between the left side of that vehicle and the lane line on the left of that vehicle then you are overtaking on the left, or overtaking nearside. That's an offence.
You can legally ride between a line of vehicles as long as the lane line, usually a broken white line, is on your right and the vehicle you are passing is on your left.
In NSW it's legal to ride 2 abreast and in fact if a bike was to overtake those 2 there is no requirement for the overtaking bike to leave the lane. That'd be 3 bikes in the one lane.
It's easy to see how uneducated comments create controversy.
