I am looking at replacing the screen, so if you happen to have one after replacing yours with an aftermarket one, I may be interested in purchasing it.
Now the reason I am looking for one is that there appears to be some sort of coating on the windscreen that assists in allowing the water to run off it. Mine does not do this and I find the water is just staying on the screen.
If you know of anything I can do to repair the screen I would be happy but failing that I will keep hunting for a screen.

I realise you've probably already tried a couple of coats of Rain-X, but I swear by it for bike screen, car windscreen and helmet visor. Just needs to be reapplied regularly.

I use rain-x on the tin can screen, but I have been hesitant to putting it on the bike shield and helmet visor's due to them been plastic and not glass. I didn't know if there was any chemical in it that would affect the integrity of the plastics.
Wendy, if you've used them on the shields and helmets have you seen or experienced any fogging, blurring or even damage to the plastics?

Rob, I've used it for years on helmets both inside to stop fogging and outside for rain with no problems, even on the perspex windscreens of my racing cars, Just use as directed on the bottle. (It wont eat plastic, comes in a plastic bottle) :wink1

Thanks Wendy & Steveo. Yeah I know it comes in a plastic bottle, but plastics aint plastics.
Another job for the rainy days then :).... rain-x the shield and helmets.

Nanolex is what I use on the cars (glass, only), it's like Rain X, but on steriods.

I've always used Mr Sheen all over my bikes, screen, paint and black bits. Does a great job.

Plexus, this sounds good, just had a search for distributors and there is one in Vic. Is this available in local auto or boat shops?

I usually get it at one of the bike shops. It comes in 2 sizes, I get the large 368g for $29.00
It is a plastic cleaner Protector & Polisher. It says it seals the pores of the plastic & scratches less visible
You can use it on the whole bike but I just keep it for the screen.
I use Turtle wax "ICE" on the rest of the bike.

I picked this up from another site if it real bad and going to be thrown out it may be worth a try first.
I got sick of the faded and crazed look of the screen on the old girl and was getting close to replacing it, but decided to give a try to rejuvenating it. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying.
Step 1 was to wash the screen
Step 2 sand the whole screen with 600# wet and dry
Step 3 repeat step 2 but this time with 1200#
Step 4 buff with water rubbing compound
Step 4 buff with Meguires plastic polish
Step 5 Finish off with Vuplex
The buffing was done with a cheap lambs wool pad on my drill

As I understand it, that process will remove the hard coating and leave a very scratch-prone softer acrylic layer.

+1 for Mr Sheen. Best and cheapest all round bike cleaner going!
