Title: Back Rest
Post by: Esstee 13 on February 17, 2013, 11:25:44 AM
Hello All.
On the rear of my reasonably newly acquired ST1300, it has a square metal frame with rounded corners that almost looks like the upright section of a gearsack rack. I am wondering if there is a back rest available for one of these or if someone indeed has made their own. I am getting a little tired of the finance manager saying it hurts her back. I am presuming this structure is from the factory as it uses the existing mounting points.
Thanks in advance
Tony.

A pic might help. Doesnt sound like OEM, may be a Gearsack mount

Think about getting a Honda top box, expensive but fit well, take two full face helmets when stopped and the finance mangers purse/back pack when riding.

I do have the optional back rest to suit the gear sack rack.

The rack was a universal one fitted which I fitted to my CX500 Turbo. Heather had the same complaint so we got the back rest. It attaches to the frame with velcro but fitting the back rest to the fame with bag on proved a little difficult so it was hardly used except on longer trips.

Can post a couple pics once we know what your rack is.

Also when I still had the original pillion seat my wife complained about sliding forward on the seat. We fitted one of these

and problem solved.
As the seat has been recovered we no longer require it, so as it is just gathering dust you are welcome to have it. If you don't want it let me know and I will put it up for grabs.

Not OEM that I know of, but nicely made. You should be able to make a padded backrest of some kind, with plywood, angle iron, foam and black vinyl

Thanks Brock. I thought it looked a bit nice for home made but also have never seen anything like it. It looks like a couple of hours in the shed to knock one up.

We're not using it and we don't see a need for it in the future.........zero dollars plus postage.........what ever that is.......let you know in the next day or two.

Unless your coming to the rally next month and then you can pick up.
