do you like clip strap on your helmet or do prefer two half moon links
-
I'm so used to 2 half moon links I had to check.
For me, the next question is, do you bother to press the end of the tape onto the press stud? On my previous helmet I cut about 50mm off, including the stud, and melted the nylon to prevent fraying. It was a bit quicker, and didn't look like releasing unintentionally.

My helmets have all had the D rings, only the tourtech had a press stud

Can't say as how I've ever come across a motorcycle helmet that has had anything except d-rings :think1 :think1
-
motorcycle road helmet strap quick release.
on ebay

Doggy, I don't doubt that they exist, after all a OzSTOC member (you) says they do, I'm just saying the I personally haven't ever come across anything but D-rings. :grin
-
no prob just a quick review on ebay
-
:think1 I’ve had both but at the moment have the D rings…
If I had the choice I would most likely go for the clip as it can be attached with gloves on and is just easier :thumb
It makes a big difference when your fingers are numb due to cold or whatever :eek

My previous helmet was an MDS which has what could all most be called a miniture seat belt buckle for the straps.
Worked the same way as well........so much easier than fiddling around with a couple D rings........
-
i find my fingers to clumsy to do the d-ring lots of the time :'(
-
D's is all I have ever had.....
-
most of my helmete for past 10 yrs have been the seat belt quick release type,
but i dont mind the double d one,

Same here. Same helmet also. It came with the double D rings but I got a couple of the Seat Belt style buckles off ebay for a few $ each and got the local Mr Minute to replace them. Work great and soooooo much easier to use.

I've only ever had the D rings and in answer to Biggles' query, I do clip the end onto itself.
In regard to the quick release buckles I think some (or all) of the BMW helmets come standard with them.
The quick release buckle attachment was doing the rounds of some of the NSW Ulysses branches about 6 years ago, then they seemed to go quiet as there was some conjecture about whether they'd do the job. I hope they have and are legal, as those D rings can be a real pain at times, especially in winter when the old fingers get a bit stiffer with the cold.
If you search eBay, you come up with many variations, so it's just a matter of trying to work out which will suit you.
The text below tells us about quick release buckles attached to new helmets but I havent seen where it's ok to use the quick release attachment on an existing helmet
