Title: ULYSSES AGM Maryborough 15-21st April OzSTOC

Are there any Ozstoc members going to the Ulysses AGM in Maryborough between April 15 & 21 who I could tag in with for the ride? I'm not a member of any local branch, (having gone on a couple of their club rides, I realise that I'm not old enough to ride that slow yet), and I don't fancy riding that far at 80kph all the way to want to hook up with any of them.

I am however keen to join in the week's socializing and festivities, plus some day rides in the local area. I plan to camp in the grounds, but that side of it is up to you. We can hang together or go our separate ways when we get there, I'm really just looking for company on the ride/rides at this stage. Should be a fun week and a good opportunity to attend when it's so close this year.

Should have mentioned in that Post that I'm on Tamborine Mountain Qld, so I could meet riders coming from further South at a meeting point on the M1 near The Gold Coast, (say Macca's at Nerang), and riders to the North could merge at other predetermined points enroute as we proceed to Maryborough. Im with you , have gone on a few rides with the Ulysses on the Gold Coast and its just is not for me. I have been playing around with doing the AGM up in Maryborough for some time  and if I did go would probably camp also.
I know time is running out so I need to book soon , and if I do decide would also like some company on the ride and on site. I live on the Gold Coast.

I'll be camping with the party central crew, just keep an eye out for a gold ST1100 ridden by a fat bastard with a beard, it could well be me however the fat bastard with a beard could describe a large number of AGM attendees.   :crackup :rofl

As to the branch riding at slow speed, come and visit us here in Cairns and do a branch ride, no slowpoke riding here you ride at your own pace.. fast or slow as you like. We work on the theory that the whole point is the ride, we can socialise once we get to our destination.

Joondalup Ulysses rides tend to be fairly quick as well. Reminds me, I'm leading a ride on Sunday

I should be at Maryborough, along with a few other ACT Ozstoc members.  I will be riding catchup to get near Maryborough Sunday night for an early arrival Monday to get a camping site together.

We're booked into accom at Hervey Bay just for the last few days of AGM, don't ride with the local New England bushrangers.....they are to quick for me !!!

Hang out with the Boarder Rangers crew generally.....

Mixed bag of bikes....Wing, couple Voyagers, BM trouble you, and my little ST..... :grin

As for Bikebear's comment - I wish the Brisbane and Gold Coast Club Branches were like that. On the few occasions I've ridden with them you weren't allowed to pass the Ride Leader. Perhaps they've changed that rule?? Riding at your own pace seems a whole lot better to me, especially when you're mobilising a lot of bikes in one bunch. We'll have to try to find an old bearded bastard there I guess???

Sazz - Your ACT guys can possibly meet up with Rob & I on the Gold Coast on the Sunday as you pass by - let us know where you're coming from so we can work in a time. It's about 3.5 to 4hrs from Nerang to Maryborough so we need to get away by say 1pm to get our camps set up before dark.

ST2Up - Like Bikebear we'll have to keep our eye out for you during the week.

Well Ozstocer's I have pre-booked accommodation for the Ulyssess AGM, Jean now not able to attend as she didn't get her Annual Leave approved......so have a motel room at Hervey Bay 18th, 19th, 20th of April......has a double in a room and 2 singles in another room and owner can throw in another cot if needed.....

So which of you reprobates wants a bed a beer and a few laughs !!!

Accom will be VERY well priced.....

Damn straight.. I'll be towing a trailer so I'll have a 4 man tent for myself with a stretcher, 12v DC power pack to run lights, charge phone and tablet, an esky to keep food and beers in and a small stove to cook on if I want to. If your gonna spend a week in one place it may as well be comfortable..    :grin :grin :beer

I will be staying in Alexandra Hills on the Saturday night, staying in Goomeri on the Sunday night with the aim of arriving early on the Monday morning to set up camp.

You can't set up camp on the Sunday

Camping grounds open Monday 15th April 2013 at 7am.  No admittance prior to this time.  For all information regarding camping (of all types) refer to the AGM Event website.

This is how I'll be transferring my necessities to Maryborough.

40 litre fridge, 100 amp/hr deep cycle battery, 500 w pure sine wave inverter, cooking gear, tools in the bottom part; tents, clothes, chair, table and sleeping gear in the roof boot.

Dave (Strider20) and I are going on a quick re-con up to Maryborough on Saturday 20th.

We just wan't to see the Parade 0800-1030hrs.

Will be leaving 0630hrs from BP Nth bound Service Centre, Caboolture.

Be there earlier to fuel/coffee etc if you want in.

3hrs each way. Up the Bruce to M'borough - back through Mary Valley Way at Gympie on return. Probs be back at Cab around 1400-1530hrs.

Back from the AGM and I just thought I'd mention that if you're looking for a riding partner one day you'd go a long way to find a more agreeable companion than Rob Mc. We had ourselves a pretty good time, appearing like a pair of young bucks in a sea of old folk. We probably had the best looking bikes in the park to boot.
