Hi there ST Owners!
I am currently looking to purchase an ST1100 as a "second" bike to keep the boss happy. My current ride is a Suzuki B-King but find it horrible/impossible to pillion on, so decided to look for an "older" tourer, and guess which one seems to have the best reviews for the money spent??
Looking for any kind of advice at what to look out for when purchasing a used ST.

Gday Beaker,
Two wheels and a seat is a good start....
Have a look at the miles, and general condition, have a ride, take a pic or two and post them here for further advice. There may even be some one close to you to come and check your intended purcahse with you and show you what to look for.

Check for timing belt replacement for anything near or over the 150,000 mark.
Some have ABS/Traction Control/Linked Brakes from 1996 model onwards; some don't.........not easy to tell if you don't know the bike. Dash warning lights and switch panel on the LH fairing filler panel are the easiest clues to spot.
Side cases are standard and colour matched to the bike.......(I've seen some for sale without the cases)

Welcome to the zoo Breaker. (Not another Queenslander) :||||
You'll find good info, jokes, blokes (and Girls) etc here.
The 1100 is a bloody good bike, I had one for about 3 years and loved it.
Ask away mate. There's lots of good oil here and no-one takes the p155 o:)
Take care and good hunting,
Poppy :wht13

Hi Beaker! Don't know how I missed this thread.. Go by general condition and the feel of the bike. With age and distance, things like bearings, timing belt, cooling system bits need replacing, just like any other vehicle.

Yep guilty here to, sorry I missed this one, welcome aboard!
