Please read, this may/may not effect you directly.
Taken from Fire Rescue New South Wales internal webpage:-
"The Duracell national campaign, supported by FRNSW, other state fire services and the Australasian Fire & Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC), uses daylight savings as a trigger to remind people to also change their smoke alarm batteries and check their smoke alarms are working when they change their clocks on 7 April."
Any questions just PM.
Cheers
Dave

Interesting. Here in WA they use April Fool's Day (1/4) to trigger the change. Probably because we're foolish as we don't have daylight savings here.

Good on you Dave - An important message :thumb

Something we don't have to worry about as ours is hard wired in.

"hard wired" smoke alarms, that's music to my ears :rofl :rofl :rofl. Hard wired smoke alarms are here to stay with all new buildings and renovations codes.
-
Abe, glad to see your on the job 24/7 :grin

The hard wired ones have 9 volt back up batteries in case there is a 240 volt power failure and a fire at the same time.
-
Now let me get this straight....if it's hard wired in and you get a short in the wiring, and a fire starts, knocking all the power out, the fire/smoke alarm still depends on a 9 volt battery??
yeah, there's logic in there somewhere, but...... :think1
oops! Biggs just said that eh

Got in early and did our 3 today....240/9 volt, couldn't wait for day light savings as a 9 volt went flat at 2am this morning......the beep ever 1 minute drove the dog captain crackers !!! :||||

Had a smoke alarm, but took it down. Every time the Mrs fries up Chillies the alarm would go off. Chillies travels faster n smoke.. :|||| :||||

They are radio-active, and trigger the tiny radio active sensor in the alarm because it reaches critical mass.
