GAH! why did I read this thread :(
-
Definitely sad news. I am glad you were home.
-
So sad to hear the news about Sabie. After 17 years together, the fact you were with him at the end is just beautiful. I bet you will keep some wonderful memories in your heart.
-
Definitely a family member after 17 years.
And such a good innings for Sabie.
You'll have lots of good memories to recall.
-
Sad news sabie, but sabie had a better than average innings
-
They do become appendages of us
I feel for your loss

Sad news indeed. Our dogs become very much a part of our families and our lives.

Sorry to hear your news Sabie.
I know exactly how you feel as we also lost both our dogs on Thursday. The door was accidentally left open and the boys (Rocky and Bullwinkel (Whippet and German Spitz)) got out and went adventuring. Got to the bottom of our hill and were killed instantly by a hit and run. Following driver took them straight to a vet who called me with the news. Buried them here and the whole house is like a graveyard - the silence is deafening. We miss their personalities and friendship the most. Bully was about the same size as Little Sabie. My daughter and I rescued him from an owner with a cruel child and after a couple of years we managed to convince him that some people are very kind and caring and not a threat. Rocky was an incredibly fast, but gentle mini-greyhound with a coat as soft as satin.
Little Sabie must have been well cared for to last 17 years. Lots of good memories there. He looks like he was an entertainer with a few tricks to impress the family. Those terriers are clever. Bully could walk and spin around on two legs.
I'm sure everyone who bade you well would also know how we are feeling here. We thank you all for your sympathetic thoughts. Please don't send us any messages. This is Sabie's thread and everything said there also applies to us.

Thanks Guys for your kind words and wishes.
It seems strange that one should grieve a little dog like this, but Sabie was my best buddy. Wherever I was he was, he'd sit at my side while tinkered with the STead.
