Title: Front Indicator/mirror cowl assemblies for ST1300
Post by: Gadget on April 16, 2013, 06:55:34 PM
Has anyone lost a front indicator/mirror housing assembly?

I must have lost my Left-hand Front one on the way to work this morning.  I was sure it was there when I parked it, but it wasn't when I went to ride home this evening. :cuss  It was in the secure car park at work all day with security cameras, so I don't think it was stolen.  The damn tether failed to do it's job, :cuss interestingly the connector on the wire is still intact.    :'(

When I got home in the good light of the garage, I could see the retaining clips were bent out towards the front and one of the four 'fingers' on the top front is actually missing.  :cuss :cuss :cuss Maybe someone bumped it off walking past in the car park and were a bit scared to confront me. :cuss :cuss :cuss

Anyway, who knows where I might get a replacement.   :think1 The sooner the better as it is my daily ride.

Cheers,
Gary

Good News!

I found it on the side of the road on the way to work this morning.

Bad News!

It is badly scratched and battered, however it is still in one piece and the indicator still works.  A bit of bog and a spray paint and it should almost be as good as new.

I'm going to see if I can get new spring clips as the old ones aren't working very well.

Lucky find.  Fortunate it hadn't been run over!

I lost one after the bike had a little lie down whilst I was helping a mate get out from under his BMW. (Typical of an ST... Never fall over if you are aboard....). Anyway the cost of a brand new cowling, no indicator lense color coded was less than $100 from the local Honda shop (CMC).

This was cheaper than an eBay aftermarket plain one.....

The clips can be re-bent back into place... Mine are holding fine...

Cheers,

Doug

I have a spare blue left side with only minor scratches to the end if that helps.

Sabie,

I'll keep that in mind.  After wiping it down with a wet cloth at work today it looked a little better, so I'll try giving it a polish.  But there is burring to the plastic on the outer edge and pointy bit at the front.

As Doug has pointed out they are less then $100 from the local dealer, I might try that next.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your help.  sterling as usual.

Cheers,
Gary

Thanks for that link Sabie.  :thumbsup  :hatwave

Parts ordered this morning.  I have to get the Winker assembly too because the wiring harness clip is broken and the lens badly scratched, just under $98 .
Cowl is just under $128.

Ordered set of 6 spring washers and screws for under $5.

The RH engine Bump guard was only $24.05 (previous embarrassing moment, no-one saw so it didn't happen :grin)
I've been missing a few of the push-in tupperware clips for a while so I ordered some sets of those, and a set of 4 caps for the 8 mm steering bolts (because I'm missing one and now I'll have spares 8)) Less than $4 for each set of four.

All up just on $270 delivered to work.  When I just had the cowl ordered it was less than $10 for shipping, but after I added the other bits,  there was no price for shipping.  :clap

I'm curious how long it'll take for them to arrive now.  Can't wait to get all the bits and make the bike look better again.  :runyay

Only thing I had to contend with on the website was that even though my bike is a 2005 build the model is 2004, so I had to look under that year for parts. Then it was all good.

Maybe OzSTOC should see if we can get them on board for member discounts.  :grin  They are based in Mt Gambier.

Cheers,
Gary
