Title: new member from the hunter valley
Post by: jock1958 on May 01, 2013, 01:21:03 PM
Hi ST lovers,
I am a new member from Ellalong, NSW, which is in the Hunter Valley....a small village 10kms from Cessnock. My name is Jock....and yes, from Scotland....and yes, with a Scottish accent! (been in Oz for 32 years)......struth!!!!...doesn't time fly!
I bought my ST new in 2008 and I am one happy camper!  My partner loves it too.
I come from sports bike stock...having raced in my youth and owned many a fast (in their day) bike....RD250 & 350 Yammies, CB550 fourK, GSX750 Katana, a couple of Fireblades, and a Blackbird to name but a few.  Finally, throwing in the towel (or so I thought) and getting my ST.
I love my ST....so comfy...but when I want it to go....IT GOES!!
My partner, Lyn and I have done big trips like the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, Broken Hill and Whitecliffs.  We have toured around Tassie for a few weeks coming back home via the Victorian Alps.  Last but not least we crossed the Nullarbor, to The Esperance, Albany, Margaret River and Perth.
Lyn packs the bike panniers to perfection and off we go.  We tend to keep the top box for rain gear, puncture repair stuff, tools etc and there's a bit of room left in case we buy something on the way....which we then post back home when we get the chance.
My St is virtually stock standard apart from the cruise control I fitted, which is vacuum operated and works brilliantly.  I sourced the unit (Ultravox) from the USA through Ebay for around $200, or there about.
Well, I have prattled on for long enough......I'm not really into clubs etc but when I saw this site with all the ST's lined up I just thought it looked great.
Thanks Streak for your initial help.
Happy and safe riding to all.

Cheers
Jock.     :13Candy

An ex-Novocastrian here and I've never heard of Ellalong.

Have a look at the member map to see who's near you.  Saaz might organise a Hunter Valley RTE just to get him out of the Canberra cold.

Welcome to the asylum.  We have the keys.

Howdy Jock!  Always good to have the knowledge of locals when planning rides in areas, and the Hunter area is on the list of areas to do sometime.

Hi Jock - welcome aboard mate - hope you're enjoying the ride.

We see some fantastic pics of your homeland from bikes on tour there and just drool at the countryside.       :-++

But, I guess we don't have it too bad here either.     :thumb

Thanks for the intro, and hope to see you round somewhere.

Cheers, Diesel
