So being a law abiding biker and at the old age of 41, never had even a warning never mind demerit points or a ticket I get home to find a Penalty Notice for $397 and 3 demerit points for running a red light in Sydney on 3rd May 2013.
Was not a happy man so got on my high horse..... but then realised I was at work at the time (Friday just after midday).
Checked the ticket and sure enough my rego, name and address so checked the photograph on the SDRO website using my high tech iPad not the very expensive gear the RMS/SDRO use to check their evidence.
Anyway, rather than seeing a shiney burgundy ST1300 I saw a silver 2006 Yamaha 125cc clearly showing the reg of SQA05 not SDA05 (which is my ST). Now I have to go through the whole system of getting the ticket cancelled with the SDRO!..
But out of interest has anyone else had a similar issue? more so how many people out there don't have internet access or don't know the system so just pay the fine and take the points?

I don't doubt your story, but I'm blowed if I can see how you or the SDRO can read the numberplate and decide its a silver bike, let alone a 2006 Yamaha 125!

When you download the two photos from the SDROs website and use an iPad it's very easy to zoom in, check the registration then go on the RMS which will confirm the make, model, colour and year

Hey Biggles, as a guy I worked with in the Territory would say, 'Coz they in the guvment, an they can do plurry anyting theys a mind to. Them blokes don't know s..t, but they can do anything, 'coz they got votes. We only gotta .303.

I think they just send out the notice and see what happens. It used to be the case that you had to pay to clear yourself, so they make money each way!
