Gday everyone. Have been thinking about rear crash bars to protect the panniers on my 1100 and after discussion with Poppy Dave and harry potter :beer :phone
I had the idea of fixing to the grab handle bolt but down to the muffler bolt. This wont be strong enough so i will have to brace somewhere else. The question is how strong is the aly at the side and i note elsewhere the toe bars also mount at this point. Do i also mount a toe bar as the side strengthener. or the other idea is the run a bar to the pillion peg and make a new mount at a lower distance. :o The other considerations are being able to move panniers, remove side plastic and no hinderance to the pillion pegs. I am sure more heads are better than one. Sorry to the Tasmanians out there cause they have the advantage :whistle
love ewes all

I dont think anyone has ever worked out a suitable way to mount them to the 1100, thats why the Police bikes never had them.

Maybe an advance rider course is the better option here. Never seen rear crash bars for the 1100.

John potter newby but an oldy. Sorry John :grin We met at the Captain Stirling and came with Brock. The idea of the bars was just for tip over protection to the rear. I dont intend to be in that situation and if i do then it wont happen :-((( there were some made in the states but i need to investigate more. I think they would also look kool :rockon

They don't have them on the 1300's either.

looks like you lose the rear pegs if you mount one on the 1100

The 1300 has them available at Motorcycle Larrys, they suggest that you also purchase peg extenders

Yes you need the extended pegs with the MCL tip over bars. They move the pillions feet outwards a bit as well giving them a more comfortable riding position. Pitstop has noticed it makes getting on the back a bit more difficult now with the lowered pegs.

Thanks guys and gals. :thumbsup I have seen the two websites. :CB-- The MLC mount to the 1300 and the californian police mount at the footpeg and muffler mount. Have just been changing cush rubbers and had the bike naked. :eek These two mounts are the only positions at the bottom end that are available. will try and design a new peg position at the same height but out about 30 to 40 mm. :think1 These two in combination should be strong enough. And a belated apology to the new zilanders out there for all the sheep jokes. :nahnah
