Abe, I rang to tried to book accomodation and was informed that the place was booked out by ST Owners and that l need to confirm my accomdation with them. Go figure. However if there is no acommodation at the hotel then l will find something somewhere.
-
I did reserve the rooms, so you do have a bed, so don't worry.
Communications problem with Hotel.
See you then.
-
I did the Taralga to Crookwell road on the way to Grey Gums the other week. A bit of gravel (5k?), most of it a bit marbly but manageable if you don't mind gravel. Closer to the event we can organise some meeting up points to come into Crookwell. Bathurst is my favourite at the moment as I can do a loop ride and not repeat some roads.

Yeah !!! So Bathurst has nothing to do with the bakery ?? :butt :butt
Pockey :wink1
-
I haven't been to the bakery before so that is part of the adventure - the roads to Bathurst and that tourist drive on the hill hold no attractions at all :wink1

Abe - After a chat with ST2UP I have planned to have the days off from the Wednesday to the Sunday, thinking we might be able to do a bit of a road-trip travelling around a yet to be planned route and end up at Crookwell about lunchtime on the Saturday.
Let me just say that again :phone ROAD-TRIP :runyay :runyay :hatwave :rockon :clap :grin :grin just in case you missed it :wink1
Cheers

Sicman, in my best "Thunderbird" voice I say "FAB".
I have a rough map planned already. :thumbs

Quite a few options around there. Coming in through uena is ok if you don't mind a bit of gravel, and at times corrugations.
-
Bollocks !!! We are out, just cannot get rosters to align to put us off together. :'(

For those going and who might want to meet up in Bathurst to get some pies to take up the mountain, what is a recommended place in Bathurst?
-
Beck Bakery - http://goo.gl/maps/6pPwo (http://goo.gl/maps/6pPwo)
At this stage I will have to meet you at Crookwell, the current bride needs me till about 1pm (Doc's appointment for her)
See you there. :thumb

Shame we cannot make it :-X. Ride safe and take lots of pics
Pockey :wink1
-
Abe - Do you need to confirm rooms with the hotel?
Cheers
:slvr13
-
Abe,
Put me down as a possible. But don't reserve a room in the hotel for me at this stage.
If I can make it I'll organise my own accommodation.
-
Pockey - the current bride, is current, waiting on Megan Gale to come to her senses (nothing like dreaming)
Sicman - rooms already booked under my name.
Lionel - there will be room for you somewhere.
Cheers
-
I have a room booked, it might have an extra bed. We can work it out when we get there. There is a motel within walking distance for Lionel.
-
I plan to get to Bathurst around lunchtime, so if anyone else wants to meet up and go eat up the top of the mountain let me know so we can plan around a time.
Otherwise I will just do my own thing. Have not tried out the sport setting on the suspension as yet.
-
"walk" is a four-letter word. But I can stumble along after a night in the pub.
I've never been to the top of the mountain (Bathurst race track?) so count me in if I can do this ride.
-
Just rang the pub and was told that OzSTOC has booked out the 7 seven rooms.
Abe, can I reserve one of those rooms. If not, let me know so I can make a booking at the motel.
Many thanks.
-
It is with a heavy heart I must pull out of this one. Bad time. Of the year with too much on. Maybe next time.

I don't have the CB connected as yet, it is a work in progress awaiting some new toys. I hope to be connected to Lionel, who will have the CB working.

Thanks Guys for an enjoyable outing to Bathurst and Crookwell.
It was my first time on the mountain and I was a little disappointed about the lack of crowds cheering me on.
The pub had a magnificent red wine list, three choices actually. Enough said.
Sometime during the weekend I told Abe that my wife likes it when I go riding because she can focus on quilting rather than running after me.
I only mention it now because while typing this post my wife said what's that yellow thing running to and fro? :runyay
She said that's how I feel when you go riding. She's a keeper.
-
It was good riding and a great evening. We seem to attract all the unusual locals for some reason... Sad to see an empty wine gass sitting there all evening, but the others varied in their fill level.
The event nearly was a Triumph overnighter, as they were the majority bike brand until Gordo on his ST1300 saved the day. He came from Violet Town in Victoria so easily got the distance award. I don't have any photos so hope all the ones taken turn up.
-
My mum lives 300m from that hotel.

Sounds like you all had a great trip. What was the hotel like? $50 for the night seems ok.

It is quite ok, All rooms had ensuites, toaster, fridge etc. 4 rooms downstairs, the other 4 upstairs. My room had 2 single beds and had plenty of space. The rooms are out the back more motel style, so quiet. Breakfast was not included or available at the pub, but at least 3 cafes and a bakery are open early nearby.
-
Rodd,
The Triumph riders were very impressed with the place.
The Honda riders were a little more discerning.
-
Thanks for a great weekend. Trina and I had a fantastic time getting there, staying there and getting home.
Yes we did attract a few locals as the night wore on and Abe was getting quite friendly with them. One in particular :rofl

Trina and I had a great ride home via some fantastic DIRT roads. No one got in our way and no one pestered us from behind. My Tiger got a little tired at Jenolan Caves carpark and decided to lie down for a nap :cuss. I will have to treat it to a new indicator lens and a clutch lever to make it feel a little better. Lucky Trina was there to give me a hand to wake it back up.
Thanks again for a fun time. I haven't laughed so hard for a long while.
-
Thanks for all the write ups, so far. And thanks for turning up, one and all. :thumbs
It was a great/funny weekend. Sicman still has a write up to do yet. :popcorn
Note the empty wine glass was for "Pockey" :nahnah
Packo, was Pockey on your bike when you dropped her???? :rofl
Bikes:-
Honda's -4
Triumph - 3
HD - 1
Thanks again
Nearly forgot, Steward (HD) and I won the pub prizes, and got them converted to cash for a couple of rounds of drinks for all, so now you wished you came.
The local's really appreciated the fact that Ozstoc members like to choose smaller country towns to spend our money, and meet some country characters.
-
Hey guys, glad to see that you all had a great time and met some interesting characters. So who will be nominated to show us the raw egg demonstration next RTE for those of us who missed it. DARE YOU. :rofl
Thank you so much for thinking of me, but I will be sure to be holding the glass in person next time. :Blow
So Abe, did you find a vet for that sick puppy, he looked very dehydrated. :rofl
Pockey. :grin
-
Have just arrived back home from the Crookwell RTE and would like to thank Abe for arranging the weekend and everyone else for making it a great night. I really enjoyed the fun and comradery of the weekend. Looking forward to catching up with everyone in the future.
GORDO :
-
Well Stewart on his Harley and me on the :slvr13 left West Wyalong for the trip across to the Cherry Festival at Young to peruse the vehicles at the Show & Shine. It was 18 degrees and not a breath of air. Pretty flat country to start with and then the corners starting getting more frequent as we rode up into the hills :clap :grin
We found a park at Big W and did the car show - A great mix of vehicles in natural state and restored. Then we hit the Commercial Hotel for a counter lunch.
After an hour we hit the road to Murringo where we turned left and headed some back roads towards Cowra, cut across to Monrangella and down to Boorowa - Quick refresh, refuel and on Crookwell thru 88kms of blessed bends ranging from 40kms to very quickly (140) and not many straights in between ( You need to do this road there and back again - Cant get the smile off our faces :grin)
Just as we hit the Bathurst road and turned in towards Grenfell we came across a young mum holding a baby, with a 4 yr old and a puppy trying to get the spare off the back to change a flat tyre on a dangerous bend.
Stewart getting started

Just as we got sorted I see this :wht13 come around the bend and turn around to lend a hand.

Then along came Gordo from Victoria ( that 3rd world country below NSW) and he sat next to Stewart who was not amused by the Harley wise cracks

Then it was back to mount up and do that great 88kms of bends back thru Boorowa, Young, Bribbaree, Bardmedman to home 655 kms under the belt and that smile is still on our faces.
Thanks everyone for a great weekend :clap
P.s. Sicman was the only one to down a desert with ice cream and beer chaser :Cake2 :beer. The others were too soft :Stirpot

I can sleep well hearing the ST riders put the hard yards in at the bar and put the trumpie riders to bed. :Stirpot.......but with Packo, Katrina and Saaz on their A game I think we will need the our big guns for the next attempt :nahnah
