On Sunday there is a get together in Canberra of P76s. I am going to have a look and take some pictures. A friend of mine was really into P76s (and Karman Ghias, but that happens) but he passed away a few years ago in a diving incident (had some isses that meant she should not have really been doing that). So I will post some pictures sometime. Force 7s, station wagon prototype etc etc..should be a great day.

Lawns of Old Parliament House, same place as the Italian bike and car setup. I plan on being there 10am or so, and going for coffee at Pork Barrel nearby

Great stuff, will swing past on my way home about 2:30 or so

Was it the 'Targa Florio' the sports version of the P76 ... And if memory serves me they came out in purple or royal blue .
I grew up in a great era

They actually made more than 70 of them!?!

my tax accountant has a force 7, does that say something?

I have various pictures. A Force 7 is rare, so obviously your accountant makes a a bit of money. Force 7 2 doors, station wagon (only one exists, I met the Leyland rep who used to have it as his company car)), a ute, a streatched P76, lots of others. Pictures will go up later tonight or tomorrow.

yes please Saaz. They were the Aussie car that should have been a lot better but for accountants at Leyland cutting costs. >:()

Ok, all the pictures I took. Overall a great day with people that were as close to bike enthusiasts as you can get in the car world.
Highlights were the Force 7s, P76 station wagon and the stories behind many of the cars. As usual, if anyone wants originals of the phots let me know.

Some nice old original and restored cars there. Maybe the wagon was to fit two 44gallon drums in. :grin
I have gotta laugh at these blokes that throw away the air cleaner case and fit those tiny little open air cleaners. All you get is a lot of induction roar and an air restriction at anything above a fast idle, plus the power draining hot air straight out of the radiator (every 2 degrees rise in inlet temp = loose 1 horsepower). :eek
Still, if they think it makes it go faster good for them. :wink1

I was in Canberra on a family mission and there were at least 5 P76s in the car park of the motel we stayed at, then we passed a Targa Florio (which was green) on our way home up the Federal Highway. They don't look any better now than they did when they were new!!

They sure had some crap colours. That pinkish-brown and the lime greenish-yellow are pretty chunderful !

And the Marinas. I'd forgotten them. Came with a boat inside, didn't they? :grin
All with engines you could actually work on, that had room for your hands and a spanner at the same time.

Great to see enthusiasts out..... nice photos
Note they all come with drip trays /cardboard some have shiney bling ones
