Post by: Biggles on July 24, 2013, 04:39:56 PM
This gear sounds fantastic.

At $19.95 a roll it's not cheap, but if it's a good as the claims, it would be well worth having handy.  Comes in several colours.  Jaycar carries it.

I have a precursor of this.  It is black and a rubber based compound.  It was called self amalgamating tape or self vulcanising tape. Still available at Bunnings and Masters.

It is great for a waterproof seal and a little goes a long way as it is best applied whilst stretched.  :thumbsup

However, it should be noted that once it has been on for a 10 minutes or more it has to be cut off.

Good insulating properties, good under the bonnet of a car or anywhere else there are highish temperatures.  Won't start coming undone like normal insulation tape does when heated.  :runyay

Been using it since the late 80's to early 90's.

Always keep some handy.

That would be very handy for radiator hose leaks.

It's about 13 dollars from Bunnings, I use it often on the sail boats.
It's a bit cheaper from chandlery stores or the roll might be bigger.  Hadn't thought of using it on elec joints but will try where heatshrink won't fit.

I've used "liquid tape' on wiring on my boat trailer. Seals any joint perfectly. Better than any tape you'll ever buy.

I'm deducing it's called Tommy Tape at Bunnings.

Tommy Tape 25mm 3m White
I/N: 1560099
$13.80

The specs appear to be similar.

Picked up a roll today.  It comes in red, black, blue, grey and white.  Opposite adhesives, bottom shelf to save everyone searching for as long as I did.     :crazy

Never realised Tarzan's Grip make a Gaffer tape as well as their tube adhesive.

I have the clingtape version. haven't used it yet but it sounded handy to have on hand.  May get another one to take on the bike.

went to Bunnings today. Now that I have a roll I will never have to use it.  :thumbs

I don't know that I would want a grip of Tarzan's tube.  :eek
