When I bought my 1998 St1100 it came with the standard seat. This seat was horrible in that my wife would easily slide forward under braking, and it was uncomfortable for me and didn't allow me toput my feet down flat on the road. I bought a used Sargeant seat which was a lot better, but also allowed me to take time to change the shape of the original seat. Well, this has been done and I have just picked it up from having it's custom cover fitted.

PS When I can get photobucket to work properly I will post up more photos. I did post on this forum the process that I took when re-sculpting the seat, but I can't find them.

Hi Rodd. That's a good looking seat. Well done :thumbs

Sweeeeet !!! Very nice indeed :beer
-
It's come up well mate.
-
It's really comfortable but I also expect it to get better as it gets used.
I can't remember what the purple mat cost but think it was around the $10 - $15 mark. The cover cost me $120 to have made and fitted.. so to mod the original seat cost me around $135.
The fella that made the custom cover was:

That's a beautiful work of craftmanship for only $120!

He quote me $150 worst case and pick-up after 2 weeks! So I was very happy with the result as well as him only charging me the $120.

Interesting, the basic shape of both our seats is very similar....

The hard bit is to 'snap' and 'flap' at the same time!! :p
-
Yes, very similar, Streak. I did build up the seat in the 'ballroom' area tho.. the original seat was a shocker for sliding forward, although the original cover was hard, and the even the foam top surface had also hardened up a bit over time. I noticed that the original foam was better once I got down a bit.
The fella that made the cover also put a final layer of thinner soft foam over my seat before he fitted the cover. This is to smooth out some of the imperfections.

First photos of my ST when I got it home. 7th of June, 2011.
No Fenda Extenda, no 3" Roxx risers, no towbar, no mirror/fairing flairs.. but still the huge screen!
The original seat that has become the basis for my newest seat!
I have since cut about 2" from the top of the screen, making it less round at the top.. and also making it comfortable to see of the top of it now!

I've just done a mod to Leonies DN01 seat. She had problems with sliding back on the seat and there being no support which made her slouch. I cut a block of foam to shape to and got a local motortrimmer to cover it. He also put a layer of foam over the whole thing to smooth it out.
Before covering..

Finished product..

She's very happy with the seat now.

Having ridden the 1100 and the 1300 i found the 1100 seat not too bad ,but the 1300 not good i will change it straight away when i get mine.
