Its a 95 model, ive just finished replacing the the plug, have rewired it, cleaned up the relay, and am now waiting for the battery to charge to see if it all works. If not,I will have to replace the relay.

We have lift off. Job done, Bike starts fine,no need to replace the relay. Its always satisfying when a repair job works to plan.
Now time for a nice glass of red...............

It would appear that you have had components of your bike somewhere were it's been warm and wet!

Have you recently placed your components were it's warm and wet?? And the sparks they did they fly??

Water, electrickery, and dis-similar metals do that!

Just a thought,
Ciao, the can :)

PS It's 16:28 I have been painting stuff in the shed which as it turns out would make and orange skin look decidedly smooth...so I walked away as Yoda advised , ad 2 two beers (read Ales), bugger all food (my contribution to walking away), and I'm ready to partyyyyyyyyyyy...hoo roo and seeyas next year TTFN  :beer
