Title: musos
Post by: Carrelli on January 02, 2012, 08:08:03 PM
Tried to post this under miscellaneous but there isn't one
How many of you riders play a musical instrument?
Anything that is tapped, strummed, blown into or god fobid.. plucked ... will suffice.. well by now you get it :whistle

Who plays  their own style of music on their own instrument of choice?

I understand that this post could consolidate my position as the one most in need of "attention", however I am putting this out there.
Who knows.. you might be a virtuoso ... or a couple of beers wannabe.... it's all good.

Now as a matter of disclosure, and also because I started this, I will offer that I play blues harp.. a little, and badly.. guitar, as previous, however a little more than a little.. and percussion.. way better than the preceeding... so!

What do you play?

Hiya Carelli
Trumpet,Flugel horn and a little bit of Alto Sax. Ive been playing for about 40years, not a virtuoso, but a rather handy bloke to have in a band.
Ive attached a poster of my band, which you can also find on face book. Called the Well swung daddies,we do jump jive swing and a little 50s/60s rock and roll
The other band I play in can be found at www.soul-band.com , This outfit does Soul/Funk/Motown/Disco/Party band stuff, including Blood sweat and tears,Chicago,Stevie wonder etc.
I also do an occasional Symphony orchestra gig or two.
Cheers
Laurie

Hi Laurie
I checked your band ,, got some good pics. The dress code is what I understand, blues/ rythym and rock in roll. Would love to hear some tracks if they are available. With all that brass, your sound must be impressive!
My last band's catchcry was " happy blues, blues with a twist " We played the Royal Mail in Goodna, Brisbane, on occaision and more often than not, backed by the Brisbane Brass Monkey's.
Been in a couple of bands in the past few years
First was " Rockin Rythym Cats"
More recent was  " Martini 66 "

thanks for the relply Laurie .... I'll check the soul band out

I played the Bagpipes in the Boys Brigade but that was about 50 years ago. Not sure I'd know which end to blow into now.

Played (hit) the drums in a group in the 60's. I think everyone in Britain was in a group then. I was crap but the group made a small name for themselves (after I was kicked out).
