I noticed on my last ride that the old legs began to seize up a little after about 400kls, and thought I might have a look into fitting Highway Blades, so on to the net to have a look at Motorcycle Larry's super dupa Blades, but...........what the @#$!......."DO NOT FIT POLICE BIKES".........WHAT!! Just who does this guy think he is! :cuss
I've been trying to work out what would be different on a Police bike in that area that would prevent them from fitting, but cannot even begin to imagine. I'm just wondering if anyone can enlighten me, and if so, pleeeeeeese do! :grin

Its simple really, the difference, is that Police bikes have a braket fitted to them for attaching siens n other good stuff. If you can carefully remove the bar, problem goes away.

Thanks Brock, but it's got me thinking, my bike was an non-commissioned Police bike, and while it's fitted with Police switches the rest of the bike appears to be as any other ST1300. I wonder perhaps if my bike isn't fitted with the brackets?? I guess the only way to find out is to have a squiz, and I'll do that tomorrow!!

Poppy Daves was a brand new never issued bike, that was never commissioned and it has the brackets, at least its easy to pull the cover off.

As Brock says, it's easy to get off. Remove the screw underneath, then squeeze the top and bottom to release the little grooves and they pull away.
It sounds as if you could grind the bar off leaving the standard curved tip-over bar. The peg mount uses the space inside the curve.

Yes mate, I've had the cover off many times but I've never taken much notice of the tip over bar etc as I've always had my mind on what I'm there for at the time! But, I will check it out!! :grin

I have fitted some highway wings to a civilian ST13, and they fit as if Honda issued them. Should be easy enough to remove any offending part.

I agree- Anything that comes from MCL is great quality - I love my blades :thumbsup

And they provide a great service. On one of the occasions Ruby fell over, the blades were out. For a reasonable charge they supplied just the left one I needed in a week or so. Because they are machined from aluminium billet, they snap off rather than bend. MCL also supply replacement laser cut covers at not much more than you pay for OEMs.
For what it's worth, Larry, the founder and inventor of MCL was a keen ST1300 owner/rider.

Already had a reply from them, the tip over bars can be altered to suit the Blades and the've forwarded pics of what needs to be done, but they're not at all clear. I'll look further into it when I have more time. :grin
