Title: Still photos of the Tasman Peninsula Tasmania
Post by: Couch on September 05, 2013, 03:29:20 PM
There are many beautiful areas in Tasmania other than the Tasman Peninsula, however these photos were all taken within a couple of kls of where we live on the Peninsula. One of them is showing our home, and the view we wake up to each day! How lucky are we, hey!! :grin

One and half hours on the rider mower every couple of weeks in summer and every six weeks in winter and an hour of whipper snipping every few months. It really doesn't take too much. :grin

winston66,
That looks pretty good when compared to the wide brown country that we have over here for about 6 months every year.
I think that there is a good possibility that I might come for a visit.Sometime, what would be the best time of the year,(climate wise)?
How does one get from the mainland to your patch and what would it cost for the ST and trailer as well as me. and where would I catch the ferry?
cheers Winston66

No, that ones not mine, I do have a double garage size shed but it's not seen in the photo. I have another level further up my driveway with a large parking area and double garage. I'm on three quarters of an acre.

Beautiful area ,is the shed yours?

Hi Winston, it's difficult to say when would be the best time but if you want to experience warmer weather then perhaps mid Feb to March. I suggest you Google "best time to visit Tasmania" and you'll find heaps of info. You would come across from the mainland from Melbourne on the Spirit of Tasmania. Once again to get all the info on travelling times, costs, etc. Google "Spirit of Tasmania". I've travelled across and back numerous times and it's not a bad passage at all. Good accommodation, food, etc.  Spring is also nice but it can still get a little cold. There are parts of Tassie that can get very cold so you need to make sure you have warm clothing. You can pretty much camp any time of year if you have the correct gear. I've ridden here mid winter and never had a problem with it being too cold. Of course there are exceptions to the rule, if you're in an area that snows then it would be to cold to camp out, for me anyway! Any further questions then don't hesitate to ask. I can certainly put you on to some good roads to ride! :grin

winston66,

Hi Couch
Thanks for that info.
That is great and is giving me a lot to think about.
The way I feel at the moment, there is a fair chance that I will be packing my gear and then filling the tank.
Cheers,
winston66

I'd consider avoiding the school holiday periods which generally have inflated prices in most places.
