Title: HONDA AUSTRALIA REDUCE THEIR PRICES!!!!
Post by: Natman on September 06, 2013, 07:28:37 PM
Just reading this a motorcycle mag whilst the better half is out for the night....................

Shock Honda Price Drop!

Apparently Honda has shocked the motorcycle community in Australia by reducing prices, sometimes drastically as below:

2013 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade  - $16,590 (plus ORC) a reduction of $2,130
        Honda VFR1200F                   - $18,570 reduced to $15,890 (The original 2010 price was $24,990)
        Honda VFR1200X Crosstourer - $20,120 reduced to $14,790 a reduction of $5,330
        Honda VFR800X Crossrunner  - $15,090 reduced to $10,190 a reduction of $4,900
        Honda VFR800 Sportstourer   - $14,050 unchanged

Honda Australia's marketing manager has said "We need to remain competitive in the market and look at what the consumer is telling us!  This clearly will upset some people.

Some bargains there!

Don't forget the ST1300 - $24,990 reduced to $15,990 a reduction of $9,000.

I'm glad I got one before they all went.

Its just a real shame the prices were so high in the first place. All good news for us bikers though.

Wasn't all good news for some ST1300 owners whilst I was looking at my options.  I had a look at a few pre-owned, second hand units.  Many with up to 15,000km, were being offered (and still are - I just checked) for many 000'sK over what I ended up paying for my newbie.
 :blk13

Needless to say, I'm happy ...........

I wonder if they're dropping the Goldwing Price?

Well they did sort of ...... the Goldwing GL1800 F6B is $24,990 plus on-road costs, $22,990 for this demo model with 650km - http://www.bikesales.com.au/demo/details/honda-goldwing-f6b-gl1800b-2013-15469309?R=15469309&__Qpb=1&Cr=0&__Ns=p_IsPoa_Int32%7c0%7c%7cp_RankSort_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_HasPhotos_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Model_String%7c0%7c%7cp_YearMade_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_PriceSort_Decimal%7c1%7c%7cp_PhotoCount_Int32%7c1&__N=1432%20604%201430%201626%201429%201626%201428%204294967259%204294953240&silo=1400&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=5&__sid=13FAB744B45F. This could be one reason for the ST1300's price rip.

Well, the F6B is a real Golding, just without lots of the bling.  Had a look at an old Australian Road Rider price list, the top of the range Goldwing was $43,990 plus on roads.

That demo model is $21,000 less - that's lots of bike for the price.  Just saying, if you need a bike with plenty of tow capacity, in the mid $20's, and you don't want a Rocket - yeah that's plenty of bike.

I reckon a few Goldwing purchasers of 12 months, or more, ago ain't too pleased.  Just saying .....

Might go and have a look at the Goldwing Forum.

What I found interesting was that I checked two of Adelaide's better known Honda dealers after I saw this post and one still has the 1300 listed at $26,490 ride away

Goldwings mostly at about $32,000 ride away

The (chopped/half) Goldwing F6B about $25,750 ride away

http://www.billsmotorcycles.com.au/new-vehicles/category/touring (http://www.billsmotorcycles.com.au/new-vehicles/category/touring)

and those prices are about the same as http://www.motoadelaide.com.au/honda/new-bike-specials (http://www.motoadelaide.com.au/honda/new-bike-specials)

F6B no REBVERSE GEAR :-[., no top box but i think they look OK. I am under the impression that there an no more new ST1300s, has anybody actually confirmed that there are new ones available after the recent fire sale?

www.bikeoint.com.au (http://www.bikeoint.com.au)   is not listing any "brand new bikes in stock, demo or near new"  ST1300's in Oz.    :'(
I'm guessing that it's unlikely that there's any more run-out deals to be found, so what we have in our sheds is probably all there is.

I visited three Honda dealerships to find my ST1300.  The first two told me I wouldn't get one, "they've all gone now, how about a VFR1200X?"

I called Advantage Honda at Hoppers Crossing, "yeah we've got one left", I checked their price, "$15,990 plus on-roads", went to see 'em Saturday morning and brought it.

I got a call from the dealer who wanted to sell me the VFR.  I told him I found an ST, he didn't believe me.  I might have got the last one in Melbourne.

The F6B may have a Goldwing Badge, but as a traditionalist it's not a Goldwing in the true sense.

But, let agree to disagree. :thumb

I had reason to ring Honda Australia about 2 weeks ago and spoke with the Customer Service person, lovely man whose name I cant remember ( That's not a problem, usually can't remember my own name). Yep, ST1300's was model run out prices. The VFR, still in production and available overseas but Honda Australia are discontinuing the model as they haven't been able to sell them in Australia. Just no market for them.

Asked him what was replacing the ST1300 and he plainly indicated, they have no idea.

He should run for politics. Remove something we like and have no idea what to replace it with. He'd fit right in. :fp

I'm wondering if the 1300 run out was just an Aussie thing as these sites have them available.

Yes Alan, it was only a Honda Australia decision.

That's around a $14,000 discount ....... must've hurt some pre-discount purchasers.

And not only that, responses to questions about a replacement seemed to indicate a rather arrogant (perhaps ignorant?) attitude that a replacement was not necessary.

Slightly off topic, but customer service at some of the dealers was severely lacking.  The number of times I wandered around the show room waiting for service ...... you would have thought that there were no problems with bike sales.

However, Advantage Honda were tops.

I feel sorry for anyone who splashed out big bucks on a Honda prior to the price cuts.  I was in Western Motorcycles, Penrith last week and saw an immaculate used VFR1200X with all the OEM extras for only $13K with 7K on the clock.  I remember pricing the same bike when they first hit the market around Aug 2012 for about 25K ride away.  I wonder how the owner felt when he traded it in!  :'(

It just goes to show you how hard motorcycle consumers get screwed in this country when the likes of Honda can slash thousands off a new bike and still turn a profit.  IMHO new bikes generally are way overpriced in Oz.

I've been lucky enough to own a few new bikes in my time but I'm really beginning to struggle with  paying the big money asked for new touring bikes now.  I just can't see the value in them, in fact I'm resigned to buying used bikes in future for this reason.  Let someone else take the depreciation hit I say!

Cheers,

Tony

........I'm probably one of the lucky few, who, like Williamson, is not complaining about the price drops, as I got my new ST1300 for $16,990 on the road with 12 months Registration, from the blokes at Rising Sun Honda in Townsville.

I do feel a bit for others who were trading at the time, though.

The local dealer has no knowledge of a replacement model, yet.

I was getting very interested in the Triumph 1200 Trophy, until the price of the ST1300 was dropped. A VFR1200 engine in a bike with the creature comforts and fuel capacity of the ST would probably sell well in this sector.

I was one of the unlucky buggers who payed 23k for an 010. Thought I had a great deal at that price.
It made the 2nd hand price fall. I was going to change to an adventure bike but they only offered me 12k and only had 15000 k's too much money to lose, so I wouldn't get even close to what it should be :|||| :|||| :blk13

I suspect that now all of the new ST1300's are gone (is that the case yet?), the value of the pre-owned units will start to appreciate.  If you then compare the increasing value of your ST, against the decreased value of the VFR1200X, a some point in time the Honda dealer might be able to make you an offer too good to refuse.

Just don't hold your breath waiting .........

I think Honda might regret this move, the model was great and people will now be looking else where. The Trumpie is looking good as an option :blk13

Well, I've got a 2004 pearl Coronado Blue 1300, and I can tell you..... It's "PRICELESS".   And definitely not for sale....

Although A brand new ST would have been nice and I would have had a serious look at a new model ST if one had been produced, but at the end of the day, I couldn't see any benefit or reason in updating to one of the run out models.

But to those who did, ya lucky B&$$ds  :thumb
