Title: NT OzSTOCer visiting Tassie
Post by: WendyL on September 08, 2013, 09:58:18 PM
Hi guys,

I'll be in Hobart for the Under 13s Hockey championships 26 September through to 6 October.  I'll have a bit of spare time if anyone is nearby and wants to catch up for a  :beer or a coffee....

Hi Wendy,

I hope you enjoy Hobart. Just make sure you bring warm clothing with you as Hobart can get quite cold at times.
The city is right at the base of Mt Wellington and it's not unusual to get snow on the mountain at this time of year. :eek

I actually live 110kls out of Hobart but hopefully we'll be able to catch up while you're here. I'll give you my mobile number :phone so please feel free to call me anytime and if we can make a time to catch up, then we will. :grin

Regards and best wishes,

Baz

Hi Wendy, we've been hibernating down here this winter, but am sure we can chip the ice off the windscreens to catch up for a bevvie or something to make you feel welcome, i am sure. Follow Couch's advice though! Bring the winter woolies!!! Carsten is always keen on a coffee/beer/ depending on the current temp?! Need to see where he's hiding?

Call/txt 0429 932804 when you get grounded. Regards, Simon.

Hi Wendy,

I'm way up the North West of the state but I'm pretty sure I have a luncheon on that day so I'll be down there for a few days.
I wasn't planning on taking the bike, but now I'll have a reason to :)
I'll confirm when I get to work and check my calendar tomorrow.

Cheers,

George.

My daughter has had to pull out of the team due to an injury sustained in her match on Friday night.  She has a suspected fracture to her scaphoid, and she can't get in to see a specialist to confirm it until early next week at the earliest.  We're still coming to Tassie, she's now on the paperwork as video tech for the team.  I'll have more free time now, since my daughter isn't actually playing I don't feel the same compulsion to watch all the games.

I'll make sure I bring my Ozstoc shirt and the NT flag

My luncheon is on Friday the 27th so I expect I'll be heading down Friday morning and free after lunch. I should be down for a few days, returning to the North West on Sunday.
I'll wear my Oztoc shirt (minus the patch - she melted off in the dryer).
Will forward you contact details shortly.

Cheers,

George.

What a disappointment for you daughter Wendy, and of course yourself, however at least you'll still be heading south so we can catch up! :grin

Hi Wendy,
We met at last years Black Dog Ride.  Unfortunately working on the weekend of the 28/29.  I assume you'll be at the Hockey Centre and I'm not far away.  Mobile is 0418920355 and hopefully can catch up.

Anyone interested in an RTE to Ugly Duck Out at Swansea on Sunday 6/10??? Brookester from FarRiders tells me that's where we're having lunch that day. Will have to be an early-ish lunch since I have to be at the airport by 4pmthat day.

I should have the hockey schedule in the next couple of days, I hope.

Ok, I'm here, and I just want to say IT'S BLOODY FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'd forgotten what cold was :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss (I know there are those of you who think this isn't cold, and you're welcome to your opinion...).  Being overtired yesterday from flying down on the red-eye didn't help, but got really chilled and couldn't get warm again.....

I have a rough idea of what our program is now, so I'll be making contact with the Tassie members sometime today and we can hopefully catch up for a warm beverage or  :beer

It's not so cold where we live Wendy. It's often colder in Hobart because Hobart is at the base of Mt Wellington and they often get snow on the mountain! We had rain and sleet and very strong winds here last night but this morning is beautiful, clear skies, sunny, very little wind.............beautiful!! I hope we can catch up.....I'll give you a ring!!

Unfortunately I'm unable to make it on Friday Wendy, I would have liked to have caught up with Carsten again as well.

I was intending to phone you yesterday with the intention of coming in to Hobart today but I've been tied up with the Ambulance Service and have been on call since 8.00am yesterday and I'm still on until 2.00pm today (30 hours straight) as we're very short staffed at the moment, we've been fairly busy and have already done 2 jobs this morning, and I'm just about stuffed! I'm hoping to come in either tomorrow or Thursday and I'll give you a ring once I know exactly where I am.  I hope you have't been rained out............this is the most rain we've had for quite some time, it's just hit at the wrong time for you!
See you in the next day or so. :grin

Sorry I missed you Wendy.
I should have called you Friday after my luncheon, I spent the night at Wrest Point drinking rum and watching movies bored out of my brain.

When Saturday came round I completely forgot it was grand final day and I needed to get home.
Thought I'd swing by the hockey ground on my way home only to find you travelling in the opposite direction!

I did see at least 6 STs in a pack travelling south, thought they might have been heading down to see you!

Caught up with Couch for a cuppa yesterday.  Hobart put on some wonderful weather....NOT!!!!  Our poor under 13 hockey team played Tassie yesterday morning, a storm front hit at half time, 8*C with 60km winds and rain.  Some of these girls have never left Darwin before, they nearly froze to death!!!

It's good to see the NT flag on display in Tassie.

Yes it is Abe, it's just unfortunate that Wendy's hit here when Tassie's not been at it's best.  It was great to catch up with Wendy anyway, and I believe she's also be meeting up with Carsten as well on Friday. :grin

PS: I'm not the Tassie flag bearer so couldn't display the Tassie flag, also forgot to take my OzSToc shirt with me :cuss.......bugger, sorry Streak!!

Excellent work there Couch and Wendy.  :hatwave :hatwave

I'll be incredibly glad to get home Royce. Spent a couple of hours at the hospital last night with an asthma attack. My lungs don't like this cold air   :-[
