I've recently had a little learning experience with my ST 1100
The other night when I came home I noticed my low beam globe had blown , simple replace the globe .
Take the globe with me into the local auto supply shop and get globe , struggle to fit and on closer inspection I find that the two lower pins are wider apart and there's no way it will go in . Return globe get refund .
Ring Honda in Bunbury and order two globes (yes they are both the same) quoted $35 each
Today I travel to Bunbury after phone call to tell me my parts are here and before I part with any money and drive 50k home again I decide to double check and sure enough WRONG and the girl assures me all ST's are fitted with H4 globes .... all except mine it seems .
Turns out on further investigation that an H6 globe is what I need and they can have one for me by Sat morning (another 100k trip / 3 hours)
I'll just go to Discount Auto's down on the next corner and see if by an off chance they have any H6 globes .... yes they did but $51 each reduced to $47 after much squawking by myself .... they claimed their supplier Coventrys charge $75 each .
I paid the money and limped from the store still wondering if I shouldn't have gone with the genuine Honda globes .
The Clymer workshop manual I got with the bike does warn of the chance the globes may differ has anyone out there had a similar experience .

Yep, this is a recurring thred.
The H4 will fit if you bend up or cut off the tabs. You can order a shim on the net that helps lockit down properly.
The other alternative, is to dremel new slots into the housing so either globe could be used.

Thank you all for the links and imfo , I am better informed now
I have a week before I head off to Vic so I'm panicking a bit and making hasty stupid decisions .
I'm not happy with these globes I bought today mainly because they are 65/55w so the low beam will be too bright for the rest of the time day or night as compared to the 60/35W standard .

Nothing wrong with 55 watt. Most cars are 55 watt low beam. Just means a bit more vis at night ( you can see better). It wont bother on coming traffic unless you have the light adjusted up too far.

Will find where I put them. Allowed me to put in 90/55w 6000 blue white xenon globes and let me tell you what a difference...

And the moral of the story Silky ??.....anytime you come across even the slightest little ST related issue !! Jump in here onto the Forum.......very little here that hasn't been done bigger, better, faster, cheaper etc etc.....Here is always my first port of call :thumbsup

55/65w globes are standard in Europe so go with the current fuse.
I use them now. I tried the blue tinted xenon globes as well but I found the standard 55/65w a little better and good enough for the little night riding I'm now doing.

90/55 sounds like a good combination. In the old days I used things like 130/90, 100/90 and 100/55 H4 bulbs I had to change to the lower wattage low beam bulbs for around town as they got a bit hot, but changing them only took a few minutes (old fashioned round headlight). The 100/55 was a great compromise for all round use.
I have 60/55 +50 H4 Narvas in the ST11 and they are quite decent, even compared to 35W H4 HIDs. I do run 55W HIDs euro beam driving lights to cover distance riding though.

No dramas.. will go look tonight for them ... they only arrived a week or go so shouldn't be too far away .... :whistle ....
Give me a call on 0413 210 151 and can work out how to get them to you..
No need to modify anything except the globe tabs themselves and fit shims ..... Helpful hint: .. when putting globes back in... a mirror on a stick is an excellent friend ....
