Just for those interested:-
Folded a piece of aluminum to hold the on/off switch, and so I can see the lights within the switch that indicates which device is "connected".

This is the PTT:-

Your an ideas man mate :thumbsup :thumbsup

Nice Job Abe :thumb

What's the story with that PTT? It looks almost like it's OEM the way it sits flat. My PTT wraps around the bar and actually reduces the amount of handgrip available since I installed Oxfords.
-
nice one :thumb

Biggles the tiny one is the new extra PTT that comes with BikeComm BK-02, the one with the LEDs is the standard one thats always been part of it :thumbsup
Great job Abe :rockon

Well done on a nice neat job, which integrates nicely into the bike.

Ok I am also connecting a PTT but was going to use the passing switch LHS. :think1 I know a few have done this so where do I connect; solder at switch or follow cable down to below tank and find end of cable or just break in somewhere and patch.
Awaiting the almighty ones advice :-++ to inept amateur >:()
White is still best

Have a look at the wiring diagram. It's in my Dropbox

thanks biggles but my STead is an 1100. I have a manual also so I may have to find it and have a look. But I am a male and it is an instruction book. Life is interesting if you wing it

I wing it all the time......in goldclass

Wombat,
Does your pass switch work?? Mine was disconnected, and the PTT wire was cut off but still soldered in. I put in a custom wire to mate with the Sena Bluetooth thingy, wasnt too hard to pull the switch block apart and solder the new wire in.
-
Whilst wiring diagrams are good they don't actually show you where things are, like the wires for the passing switch. I suspect it doesn't go anywhere near the tank, rather to the back of the light relay.
Please correct me as I am going to attempt to rig this up as my PTT as well.

The only real benefit I was offering with the diagram is the insulation colour of the required wire. I certainly agree they are purely schematic.

Just be aware the pass switch is designed for (reletively) high current, and I've seen >:() a number of them over the years fail to make contact when used as PTT.
The voltages involved in PTT can be too small to get through the corrosion that forms on the contacts.
So be aware if the thing stops "PTTing" the first thing to check is the pass switch :crackup

this is my 1100 version, still able to use flash button, next project
-
I couldnt find a suitable spot to put the PTT for convenient use, so the flasher button does it for me.
-
I use the flasher button, it is not on any circuit diagram as it only bypasses the low beam switch, police disconnect this and run separate wiring, on white ST's in my experience the wiring is cut when everything we are not allowed to have is removed.

OK thanks to Yorkie and the wise ones I found where they cut the passing switch wires below the bars. I found black tape around the wire sheath and have white figure eight white wires cleanly cut. Testing confirmed the switch works so I will use these. I think I should learn to post picks sometime.
