Got this advisory email from QPS this morning. :thumb
Patriots Motorcycle Club – 2013 Coffs Harbour RunPolice would like to advise the community that the Patriots Motorcycle Club – South Queensland Chapter will commence a run this morning.Members from this social motorcycle club will be travelling from areas such as Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba down to Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.
Police would like to further advise that while they are aware of the run, the public should not be concerned about these activities as the Patriots is not a criminal motorcycle gang.
Police will continue to use laws effectively to ensure the safety of the community and dismantle criminal organisations within Queensland, including enforcement action against criminal motorcycle gangs.
Looks like social MC Clubs are OK (as expected) :thumb

Isn't it so wonderfully kind of the Police Officers to let us all know which motorcycle groups have their permission to actually go out on the roads and on which days they are allowed to ride, and from and to where. So kind, eh??
Pathetic!!
-
So do we have to register our group rides now, so the Police can assure the Public that we pose no danger to them?
How will these bulletins be disseminated? SMS to every citizen? Nine Nightly News? Sky writing?
-
Interestingly worded. May seem that some one, :think1 or department may get themselves sued for defamation? How interesting? :think1
So are they listed in the yellow pages under "criminals".???????????????
-
I dont see any law suits coming out of that article, as nobody hs been defamed.
In fact the Patriots have been announced as not a criminal gang
-
Everyone is innocent until proved guilty
:wht11
-
Actually, everyone is presumed innocent until proved guilty.
If they have actually done some nasty deed but not yet been convicted, then they're never innocent, they're just not yet convicted.

Lucky Them?

Talking to a Johnny hopper last night and there is a list prescribed criminal gangs.
But how do you know who are the baddies on a outing since they are now banned from wearing colors.
We'll be fine since our STeeds don't look like outlaw rides.
-
I think that the Police would have a database, license records, rego records, criminal records, etc.
The records that the Police have on me are all clean and if I ever get pulled up and questioned then I just answer honestly because I have nothing to hide.
Other than that I'll continue to ride as normal.

Winston66,
I would have thought that for a statement to be POLITICALLY CORRECT and properly used, as in some of the preceding discussions.
It would have to have included in the substance of the statement. The word.
ALLEGED.
This word, ALLEGED, should be inserted before either of the phrases; Criminal Motorcycle Gangs, or; Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.
Now a Question that is for anyone that is interested,
What Legal Court action or determination has been made that properly and corectly defines the wholesale and comprehensive use of those phrases by the Law Enforcement people when they loosely define , and apply it to some groups of people that ride motorcycles?
Cheers Winston66

The email was only an advisory from the publicity section of the QPS. Don't fall in to the trap of thinking it is directly derived from legal jargon and vernacular with specific legal meaning that could be reprehensible.
The publicity arm often cites relaxed and even jovial turns of phrase specifically to remove the shroud of officialdom when communicating directives and initiatives from the police to the public.
that is: don't get too hung up of the phraseology of the text.
Hope this helps.

Hi Diesel,
Thanks, that was not, a problem for me.
The point that I wanted to make, is that it seem to me that even in some of the previous posts etc.especially when the boys in blue are dealing with some of these emotive subjects. Someone in authority is very loose with the emotive terminology that they use, I suspect that this is because they want to stir the blue rinse granny vote.
I think that that is very naughty of them.
Surely if the term OUTLAW MOTORCYCLE GANG, ETC. WAS THE CORRECT TERMINOLOGY TO BE USED.
THE AUTHORITY COULD APPLY THE CORRECT LEGAL REMEDIES,and throw all of the associated members in jail.(as they are deemed to be outside of the law)
Surely this would gain everyone's approval and then the POLICE could stop dicking around .
Cheers , Winston66

Aah, I see. :think1 You make a good point Winston.
Here's another couple for example: the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act and the Criminal Law (Criminal Organisations Disruption) Amendment Act
The Qld Gubberment has made it illegal to be a member of these gangs; wear colours or patches in public identifying you as such; and illegal to even show up at the club houses of said named gangs.
Newman has certainly had enough of sharing the turf with these reckless, violent criminals. Looks like Victoria is following suit too. The other states had better act quickly or they'll find themselves the havens for operations of the vanquished bikie gangs (it would seem).

Don't think we'll have too much of a problem down here Diesel, at least I hope not! :eek It wouldn't be worth their while coming here. We do have a few gangs here but they seem to keep to themselves. :grin
