Ok you all well most know I now live n 250 acres.
I would like some info from the brains trust on this solar stuff.
Ok so I use some solar panels to charge some batteries which are then used
Via some pure sinewave trannies convert 12 volts DC to 240 v. AC.
So I need 5kva. But do not want to use 1 tranny as the are 2 exspensive.
Quite happy to use multiple units.
How many batts / panels would be needed!! to run 1 large Freezer for example.

Quick answer is use a 48V battery bank for 5Kva, you can parrallel inverters (depends on brands etc).
General rule of thumb (for 100% reliability with no back up generator) is capacaity to run the load plus recaharge the battery (from 30%) in 2 days. with batery capacity to run the load for 5 dyas with no Solar input.
You really need to survey ALL the possible loads, average time they are used/day, decide whether you'll run a back up generator.
THEN you can calculate the necesaries :wink1

Make sure the inverters are the same brand, there is more chance that the inverters will be pretty close to each other in spec. I would suggest inverters that are designed to run in parallel, as you dont want the out put of one feeding in to the out put of the other due to out of sync outputs. could cause lots of expensive smoke and light show.
There are ways to connect them, by using a light buld to check for sync but if you dont know what you are doing, it could be dangerous. A toasted Tipsy we dont want.

Most modern equipment is pretty smart nowadays.
I did 6 months in a Solar power supplier 12 months ago, most of it comes back to memory :-[ :rofl

This seems a suitable place to put this as well.
I've sourced a 12V 10W Solar Car Battery Charger and a 35AH AGM SLA 12 VOLT 12V DEEP CYCLE Battery for planned installation in/on the trailer.
To me this seems enough to run one or two LED lights, charge phones etc while at camp and power a laptop via a car charger for a few hours at night. It would be good if I could get this done in time for the rally.
This seemed a better solution and an easier install rather than running wires from the bike to the trailer.

Thats good to know Dale. I was looking at the inverters as those with out knowledge might, ie you cant just grab a couple of cheap inverters and whack em in parallel like you can a car battery.
While you and I can see the difference in out minds eye, the untrained might not understand that the outputs while they may be 240V AC, the actual "active" values can be a bit different depending where the cycle is. It would be a good demo to show it, at a maintenance day....

Hey thanks everyone.
I had a big report nearly finished when this piece of crap android pads bat died and I lost it all.
As I can one finger type on this touch sceen faster than it can keep up. :cuss :cuss

Yes IT saved it to.and as for swinging Cats Abe it would depend on wether or not am playing the right jaz music. o:)
As for the other kind well shaving them before inserting into crab pot seems to render somewhat better results..
Also they carry a disease that no other animal carries which can cause death to small children and increase risk of miscarriage and stillborn babies yet people insist on having them as pets.+ the damage to the wildlife is also quite phenominal..
In the meantime I will keep swinging by my self until the next over nighter or agm which ever comes first.
