Hi all, what a whopper! A trip to SA and back from Tassie. New tyres and full tune up of the ST13 before christmas. My exwife took the kids on four wheels - i took the ST1300. :runyay (good deal - eh!). All possesions 'on bike' - Geeze theres some storage space on the ST! Unfortunately didnt take a lot of photos !.
So I rode from Hobart via:
1. Spirit of Tasmania (hard to choose any other route than this one!)
2. Geelong, Colac, Forrest, Otways NP, (The windy way - this is where the 'Sport' in ST bared its teeth) :)
3. Great Ocean Road to Mt Gambia (overnighted in this 'cheap as chips motel' overlooking the footy field) $60pn. :thumbs
4. Coast road via Kingston SE all way to Murray Bridge then onto Adelaide (Salt Pan country - interesting for a Taswegian to see 'dry-white' lakes??)
5. Side trip from Adelaide - Strathalbyn - Cape Jervis - Adelaide (this part with my 11yo son) Weekend coffee culture out there!
6. Side trip from Adelaide - Edithburg - Adelaide (this part too with my 11yo son) Open highway - and grasshoppers/butterflies/bees/flies - in face!
7. Then reverse of dot points 1 to 4 above.
3500km+ in ten days. My first big tour on the ST (having owned it for 6 months). I am numb arsed and cock wristed (still even 1 week later) after this huge ride to SA and back. Verdict: LOVED IT rating 8.5 / 10. Looking to wrangle some time off to get the Blackheath NSW in April.

Thanks for those words of wisdom, ("cruise control") the thought crossed my mind as i was doing every kind of wrist position possible to cater for the pain!

Sounds like a great trip was had. I think Barry is looking to organise a ride date for us southern Tassies. It will be good meet you.

Hey there Sim - you, my friend, have captured the EXACT spirit of what owning a ST is all about.
It doesn't get much better than heading off into the wild blue yonder on the wild blue Honda for a few nights away camping/holidaying.
Well done for inspiring that little bit in us that reckons you're a lucky, lucky b@$tard!
Keep posting pics to be an even bigger one too! :rofl
Gotta wonder why anyone would LEAVE Tassie to ride tho? :wink1
Thanks for posting.
Cheers, Diesel
Edit: Don't worry, I'll deal with that naughty, but somewhat clever Scarp, poste haste!
