Title: st1100 outfit
Post by: Woffo on October 27, 2013, 09:14:09 PM
Finally taken delivery of my ST1100 outfit  :runyay. We are very pleased with it so far. It handles so well it doesn't need a steering damper and Sue says it is very comfortable. Hope to bring it to Robertson in a few weeks time, so look forward to meeting all those who are coming and showing it off.

Cheers

nice looking unit there, some pretty strong looking hardware on the front of the bike, I take it that is normal?

Leading Link front forks are commonly installed on outfits and make a remarkable difference to handling.  See the link below for a bit of info.

Johnny,

There are a few ST's with sidecars attached but not too many. It is a challenging job as they don't have any frame under the engine, so attachment points have to be made up, and all the plastic gets in the way. But if you are interested Sean Kelly (at SRK Engineering) did mine and knows how to make it all work. He also built the leading link front end, which is, as tj noted, very strong. Necessary to cope with the stresses generated by the weight of the outfit and also to change the geometry of the front end and make the steering manageable.

Work of art I think, and the colour - spot on.

Looking forward to seeing her at Robertson.

Great setup!.. and I like the lowered sporty look that it gives the front of the bike.
Robertson, eh?Sounds like a good trip!

What a fantastic looking unit!!   Did SRK paint it for you as well, or a third party, or is that something you handled yourself. Nice photo tool!

And while it's not white............I do actually love the colour!! :grin

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

That's Robertson in NSW Rodd - it would be a good trip from sunny QLD.  :grin

Sean (SRK) organised for the Chair to be painted Couch (not by himself, but by a guy in Bathurst) to match the bike. The bike is still the original paint job, but the chair does look pretty good. Apparently it was quite difficult to match the paint on the bike.

Cheers
