Well done! It is a satisfying achievement to get your FarRider number, took me two goes, but diesel and I don't mention that story any more :rofl

Nice job mate... Quick question...
I thought your end point had to be at the checkin???
Clearly I'm missing something here

Marcus you can be halfway at checkin and finish the ride when u get back home like I did at Mallacoota, but @ Urbenville I will be finishing at check in.Its almost 1000K's so I am doing a zigzag to get me over 1000. my start docket will be 23,5 hrs before checkin, if I only lived 500k's away I would checking say 5 am giving me till 5am after lunch and checkin to complete the rest of the k's on the way home. therefore within 24hr period. :thumb
If that makes sense... :dred11

Oooohhhh... that makes sense now... I thought it had to finish at the check in. That changes everything

G'day Johny,
Congrats on your first farrider and the interesting ride report. Well done m8. After our chat at the Mill Hotel I was keen to know how the ride went.
U make the concept of far riding sound easy. But that kind of riding is not 4 me as I like to smell the roses and take pix of any interesting place I stumble upon and flex my cramping muscles on a regular basis. I guess the riders who do this sort of riding also do the more relaxed type - they just do a hell of a lot more riding than I do, a classic example of this would be Saaz, and now u r probably in this category as well.

FYI guys :law FarRiders must be Caps F and R and 1 word,, always, FarRiders... :thumb
ST George I have been doing un official FarRide's for many many yrs, only difference is now I get recognition for the ride if I plan well and finish. :grin before joining FarRiders I didnt have a finishing window to meet and it was just a long road(s) travelled and no recognition.
I enjoy a good day on my STeed and I will, whenever financially able to, join in on official FarRides in the future. earning a long list of FR's to boast about. :- :clap :clap :clap :dred11
my next FarRide I will travl over 2000k's by the time I get home again. :whistle :thumbs
and its OK if you dont succeed, as long as you SURVIVE. :dred11

johnnyYTED,
Congratulations on achieving your FarRider number. I missed you at Mallacoota. Catch up next year in Nambucca Heads perhaps.
St. George,
Another classic example of a long distance rider in the group is tj189. I am inspired by his distance riding and his ride reports.
cheers,
Lionel

Oh dear!! Another STOCer got the bug.
I guess it's inevitable when you ride a great FarWeapon like the ST!
Congratulations on finishing, Johnny. I'll be missing Urbenville because I'm off to Neerim, NE of Melbourne this morning. It's the Christian Motorcyclists' National Run. I'll be doing it as an SS1600, since it's 1725 km there. I'll try to keep in touch via Telstra.
Have a great weekend wherever you are riding. :thumbsup

Good onya Johnny - a great read thanks mate. I have made quite a few friends through FarRiders and, even though they are spread Far and wide over this country, I see a lot of them more times a year than my own (extended) family!
Great times, great roads, great places, and a great reason to go ride!
I might see you at Urbenville (I'll be the one on the ST!) :rofl
Thanks for sharing. :thumbs
Cheers, Diesel
PS - Biggles: Ride like you always do mate - that'll mean a safe return, and a fun time for you. :wink1
-
Great writeup :thumbs I am sorry I did not get to met up and ride back. And I will be missing Urbenville as well :cuss
TJ, gatey, Lionel and others do the real farRiding, I just dabble around going places.
Have a safe and great trip Biggles.

Biggles I havent just found the joy FarRide-ing brings, my STeed has been used to it since we met :thumb,,, I only just found FarRiders recently and now have given the enviroment to meet other FR's.. its been in my blood for 30 years.
enjoy your :13Candy to Neerim and pass you onda long road sometime.. :thumb
:dred11
thanx for the accolades everyone.. :clap

I know what you mean about distance riding already being in the blood. Before the Hume Highway duplication I used to ride back to Victoria from Canberra (900kms or so, depending on the route) sometimes just for the weekend. Back then I used to do most of it early morning as the road was clear of traffic, and there is nothing like riding through the hills as the sun comes up.
-
I've only just got an i'net connection after leaving on Thur morning.
I completed the SS1600 in 22 hours, including 2 hours in a Gilgandra motel.
My SPOT page is still active until I get home.
Today I had to suffer the twisties up the Reefton Ridge in Yarra Ranges NP (Victorians will sympathise)- a solid half hour of bends! In the rain :'(
But then, it is Victoria!
My SPOT page is still

If you select 3 days on the left and click GO then zoom out, you can see the whole trip.

Nice one... I like seeing these
-
The riding is always good around there, even in the rain. Just keep on going around in circles!
-
Congrats on the FR. :hatwave All riding is
