Title: Who would you bring back?...
Post by: Diesel on November 08, 2013, 09:19:34 AM
If you had the opportunity to invite anyone from the past (deceased) to your place for an evening to talk about things around the dinner table... Who would it be?

Nostradamus?
Einstein?
JFK?
Noah?
Phil from 5th grade?
Nana?
Steve Jobs?
Martin Luther King?
General MacArthur?
Livingstone (I presume)?
Eve?

With the aim of keeping this thread light hearted and somewhat apolitical, .... I'd choose....... ummmmm.......   :think1

That guy who built Coral Castle and died along with his secrets of levitation.

What about you?

Cheers, Diesel

For Me, I always wanted to have a conversation with John Macarthur, I grew up in the wool industry, have always wondered how he ticked.

The truth is that there's no mystery with Coral Castle.  Have a read of this, and put your foil hats away.

For me ... It would be my Dad, a chance to have another evening to hear him tell me about his life and to have one more conversation with him. I miss him a lot.

How about:-

Galileo...He discovered (and was persecuted by the Catholic church because of it) that the sun was the centre of our world and that the earth rotated around the sun, not all the planets rotating around the earth.  He also proved that the earth was not flat and that a ship wouldn't fall off the horizon.  During the 16th century.

Leonardo da Vinci...  He conceptualised amongst other things flying machines, a tank, concentrated solar power, an adding machine, a machine to test the tensile strength of wire and made important discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, optics and hydrodynamics. All in the 15th century.

Beg to differ there. Try Nicolaus Copernicis for that one. His book was published just before his death in 1543. Galileo came along later and confirmed the earlier work of Copernicus. Probably why the church came down on him.

I would bring back ME
Oh hang on I'm not dead yet.
Oh be back in minute of to the outback room........

.....
Ah thats better so I guess it would bave to be my dax as well.
You see I manage to meet him in 1980 and only got to spend a few hours with him.
And finally realised that all the things I was told about him were a total fabrication by mother whom it seemed was unable to come to terms withe truth.
Ah but such is life. Tell the truth to your grand kids about the tooth fairy , easter bunny, and the fat fella in red suit
And all hell breaks loose....sheeez you just cant win
Tell the truth or tell lies....maybe the pollies have got it right.
I ramble..

My mum, so much has happened in this last 9 months that I'd love to tell her about.  I miss her most when the good things happen that I would have picked up the phone to tell her about :KissBlow
